About
Different Portugal is an Animation Tourism Company that organises sightseeing private tours in Portugal, including day tours, multiday tours and wine & food tours. Isn't it amazing when we visit places where friends live and they show us around all the sites only locals know? The greatest memories we take back home are of moments lived in the authentic country, not only in the touristic sites. That is the story behind Different Portugal. We want to share real places and experiences in Portugal in a unique, warm, friendly way. At Different Portugal we provide both regular private tours and tailor-made private tours in Portugal allowing you to know the real Portugal in a customised and memorable way. Our private tours include historical places throughout the country, from Sintra, Cascais and Lisbon to Porto, Guimaraes, Coimbra. We also organise private tours in Alentejo and Algarve regions showing you the best of our country in each place. The extensive knowledge of our local guides will also take you to several off the beaten path places in Portugal. Our knowledge of the country is much wider as our local guides are foodies and wine lovers. We organise a wide range of wine and gastronomical private tours, from half-day tours to multiday tours. The extensive knowledge of the country, love for gastronomy and wine of Different Portugal’s owner, Filipe, also a local guide, allow us to develop charming, tailor-made and creative tours, where all details are important. Different Portugal started its business in 2011 and has received the Tripadvisor Certificate of Excellence since 2012. Choose one of our day tours, multiday tours or wine & food tours and let us be your Portuguese pal! Come with us and discover a Different Portugal!!

Very professional and helpful. Share your plan and they will help to accommodate it if possible.

We booked a transport with them for 14 people to Albufare and included 2 sightseeing places and lunch break. Timely they were in our hotel to pick us and take care for all our need during the travel

Filipe guided us through a wonderful tour stopping at both Sintra and Cascais and some other special places. Along the way we had tasty food and plenty of time to explore. He was generous and shared so much great information that helped make our stay in Lisbon wonderful. Hope to come back. One of the best parts of our trip. Highly recommend.

Before coming to Lisbon, we booked two tours with Different Portugal online. The website was complete and attractive and, as it turned out, completely accurate. You can trust every word of it. Our guide was Manny, a long-time resident in the Lisbon area, and he was enthusiastic, very knowledgeable, and warmly friendly. We learned a good deal of history of famous places and people, and watching Manny interact with various locals along the way, we also learned a good deal about the Portuguese people -- their charm, their humor, their willingness to help. Choose any tour that suits you, or modify the tours to suit your preferences. With this company you will end up completely satisfied -- like traveling with a friend.

We had a day trip to visit Sintra, Cascais and Estoril. Manny picked us up at our hotel with all our luggage. He was informative, entertaining and an unabashed proud Portuguese. Obviously Filipe (owner and email contact) and Manny know the area well and take you to all the main sights providing information and tips how to maximise your visit. The selection of the restaurant for lunch was spot on and then we were dropped off at the airport in plenty of time for our flight back to Ireland..

We spent 18 days on a private tour with filipe & every day it continued to exceed our expectations! We saw sights that even the locals don't know about!! Filipe made sure our every need was met -and went WAY above his job descriptions on many occasions! He quickly learned what we wanted from a trip and was not only a driver and a guide but became like family! As a mum and daughter travelling alone that was SO appreciated!! I had outlined to Filipe during our initial emails the sorts of things we wanted to do and he came up with the BEST itinerary! When we return to Portugal he would be the first port of call when it came to any sort of tour. Don't waste your time going to anyone else!!!

While in Lisbon we did a "cooking class" tour offered by differentportugal.com - Filipe Cordeira ate with us so we got to converse a lot about the food and the other tourism in Portugal. The experienced chef (Joe Best) made a special gluten free meal for us, and it was the best meal I've ever eaten in my life. We had salad with grilled cuttlefish, a horse mackerel stew, and exquisite risotto, followed by roasted fruit with cream sauce. Wines were also excellent with a Portuguese white (Talia grape) and an even better red. I highly recommend this tour to anyone with celiac (or anyone else for that matter). Bon appetit!

We are just back from a week in Lisbon. While planning this trip, we were very interested in the gastronomic aspects of Portugal given that there is a long and well regarded history of wine, and food (and some of the best, fresh seafood you can find). We also stumbled upon Filipe and his company Different Portugal quite by luck in the search for Portuguese cooking classes. His business is still young, but he is certainly making positive waves as he undoubtedly has a passion for things like this. Filipe had the perfect option of a 4-5 hour course at a reasonable price with a respected local chef. Given that Filipe insists that his clients get the best experience possible, he set up the day just for us (my wife and I). He picked us up in the city and drove us to the home of the chef we were to be cooking with. He took great care to make sure everything was to our liking. Cooking at the very home of our chef made for a warm and friendly environment. In our case, the chef, Joe Best (who is the owner of Da Cozinha) wrote a custom menu that exposed us to many ingredients in local cooking with the benefit and creativity of a man who has decades in the business. The flavors, textures, and combinations were all well thought out and when we were done, we all sat down to a enjoy the frutis of our labor in the chef's own dining room. Combined with a local wine, and it made for a very enjoyable day.

Overall, we were glad to have found Filipe. He is local, knows many people and places around Portugal and genuinely cares that his clients have the best experience. I am positive his company will continue to grow. If you are at all interested in Portuguese food and wine, you should get in with Filipe and Different Portugal now, as I can imagine as the word spreads, his services will be in great demand.

My husband and I took a day trip to Sintra and Cascais and Manny was our guide. The trip from start to finish was really, really great. It was a good mix of sights and foodie moments. Manny is a funny, relaxed guide who is just pleasant to be around for 8+ hours. In additional to Sintra we went to Quinta da Ragaleira which was just beautiful. It was slightly chilly and foggy when we were there and it was just magical. Make sure you take the time to really explore the gardens and walk in the grotto. Manny also took us to a shop to do a Port wine and jam tasting. We also stopped by a bakery for a pastry that was light an airy like a pillow and dusted in sugar. Lunch was at a local restaurant and it was fantastic. We had a kind of Portuguese paella full of prawns, clams, mussels, etc. We also had octopus and a meringue dessert. The meal was one of our best meals during our week long stay in Libson. We finished the drip with a stop at Cabo da Roca - the most western point in Europe - and then drove through Cascais stopping briefly to get out and stretch our legs a bit. We really enjoyed this tour. I would say that if you want to spend time in Cascais this tour would not be good for you. But if you want to spend a lovely day outside followed by good food, you should do this tour.

My mom and I had great fun driving to Evora and Monsaraz with Felipe. We stopped at a winery and a local potter along the way. Hanging out with Felipe for the day was like being with an old Portuguese friend. The picnic lunch he planned was one of our favorite eating experiences on the trip. Such a special day and we will cherish the memories. I highly recommend this company and will certainly be booking another tour with Felipe next time I'm in the country.
