Neighborhood: Graça & São Vicente
You can be thankful that most common travel guides don't mention Graça and São Vicente that often. Part of Lisbon's historic center and "Old Town", they feel like independent villages in the capital's center, and more untouched than Alfama. Amazing views, restaurants and parks, as well as important monuments like the S. Vicente Church and the National Pantheon, make this a spectacular option for those looking for a more tranquil walk-around in the center of Lisbon. Graça has been the choice of many younger people over the past years, both nationals and expats, given the cozy feeling of the neighborhood and its hidden secrets.

- Jessica Z3 contributionsJ. ZerbeA very good 2 star hotel with nice facilities. The hotel was clean and the staff friendly and helpful. The breakfast was also perfectly fine for a two star hotel and there was enough on offer. The hotel is very centrally located and you can easily reach the center on foot. Would recommend the hotel at any time.Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 11, 2024
- Phoebe R14 contributionsStunning sunset spotSTUNNING. we thought we’d missed the sunset because we were due to arrive half an hour late but because the view is so extensive we still caught a beautiful sunset followed by incredible views of the entire city and the night lights, as well as the lit-up bridge. would definitely recommend visiting in the eveningVisited July 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 18, 2024
- BannedDE6,284 contributionsFree Walking Tour Ended Here with SUPERB ViewsGreat place for watching sunsets without a bad hike, or sketchy neighborhood full of Muslim men- like another famed viewpoint. Can take Tream 28 or walk it as we did. Id suggest taking Tram 28 up then walking down the hill following the tram tracks untiol you end up back by Praca do Commercio. TYou'll pass the Cathedral along the way which is very photogenic at dusk.Visited January 2025Traveled as a coupleWritten January 26, 2025

This viewpoint popped up during my research of things to do in Lisbon. It's free and you get spectacular views of the city. I believe there is a tram that you can take up to the viewpoint but taking an Uber will be quicker and probably cheaper (especially if you have multiple people). We ended up walking to our next destination and it's A LOT of steps to get back down. Luckily, it was going down because going up all of those steps would have been a struggle. It's worth a visit but if you're thinking of walking up, you may want to think twice.

I was at the Miradouro da Senhora do Monte yesterday and loved the view of the city from the top there. I then withdrew €80 from the very popular, sole ATM near the viewpoint. This morning I happened to check the balance of the credit card I used there to discover, to my horror, that €525 (= £449) had been taken from my credit card at that ATM. My credit card organisation said that cards are often cloned at ATMs near popular tourist spots and they assured me that I should get my money back.
I won’t be able to relax until I do.
I just wanted to warn you not to use that ATM.

I don't claim to have visited all the panoramic points of the city, but among those I've been to, this is by far the best; perhaps because it is located on the highest point in the central area of Lisbon. I can't say that the view embraces the whole city, but a good part of it does (210 degrees), in particular on the Castle Hill, the Baixa, the Tagus and the south-western neighborhoods (but also towards the north). Behind the railing is a small green area with pine trees and stone benches (the lawn is not well maintained, I must say), which surrounds an aedicule of the Virgin; next to it is the chapel of Nossa Senhora do Monte. To get here you have to work a little, but not too much: from the Graça stop of tram 28 it's about 400 metres, of which only the last 200 are steep uphill.

This is the highest vantage point in Lisbon, where you have a wonderful view of the city. To reach this place, you either climb the many steps like we do. Or you can squeeze into the totally crowded tram, which doesn't quite reach the square. Most tourists can be chauffeured up here by TukTuk or taxi. This is very annoying, also the chatter of the many tour guides. Quietly enjoying the view is absolutely not in it, especially because you are constantly approached by a "gang" of women with supposedly genuine traditional jewelry.

Great views. Decided to get some fresh lemonade and chose to have an alcoholic version with rum. A large measure was added from a Bacardi bottle (causing gasps from my family) but when I took a swig, there was no sign of any rum or any alcohol. Eldest confirmed and the seller looked a bit shocked that I had rumbled him so quickly, but did nothing. Just ignored me and served the next victim. So the rest of the family had pretty decent fresh lemonade while I got watered down tepid lemonade.

This is without doubt one of the best viewpoints to get a wide view of the city. We took a taxi from our hotel to the top but walked back downhill and it was an enjoyable walk. Don't visit Lisbon without going to the Miradouro da Senhora do Monte viewpoint.

This sight is a real hidden gem. Owing to its location just outside the main city, it means visitors often overlook making the journey up the hill. Another reason is it is situated next door to another fantastic viewpoint, the Miradouro da Graça.

This is not one of the largest lookout in Lisbon so it gets very crowded in the summer. now is a great time to visit. At night the view of the castle and the harbour are wonderful.
The lookout is part of a complex shared by a small church that is noted as being a place where pregnant women should visit to ensure a healthy birth. (If you walk here you will see why this worked in premotor vehicle times)
Do yourself a favour and walk to this site. The hill is steep but if you follow the tuktuk route the ascent is not undoable. This city is made for walking.
Check out the amazing restaurant Estamine just down the steep hill

There are several free lookouts in Lisbon and I thought this one was the best, aside from the castle which is not free.
It’s a little higher up the hill than the others. It’s also a bit smaller and doesn’t have a cafe like some of the others, although there was a small cart selling wine.

Definitely our favorite of all the miradouros we visited. A great way to see a couple of the larger hills and get a sweeping view of the city. Also a cool spot to see the castle from a distance. It’s a little out of the way but if you happen to be on a tuk tuk, there is a strong likelihood that they will bring you here or you can request it of course. Showing up here you know it must be a special place are there could be as many as 20 or so tuk tuk’s carting tourists up the hill to get here. If you’re getting here by other means then check the tram or bus schedules to get as close as you can as it’s a bit of a walk from the heart of Alfama. It is worth it though. The view from here will speak for itself.

Abs,
