Inaugurated in 1985 (the first shopping center in Portugal) it is located in the complex of the futuristic Amoreiras towers, in one of the highest areas of the city and characterized by modern buildings and skyscrapers. It covers an area of 45,000 m2 on two floors (of which 3,000 m2 are reserved for catering) with more than 200 shops, as well as a cinema, a supermarket, a chapel and a children's play area. Outside the historic center but still central in relation to the overall urban area of the city; obviously you can find everything there and despite already being almost 40 years old, it still looks modern and elegant; However, it has a less linear internal layout of the shops than, for example, the Vasco da Gama shopping centre, and therefore more difficult to visit (in any case, it is a fairly widespread layout which I have found in the majority of shopping centres, including Italian ones). As a further added value, especially for a tourist, it is the possibility of climbing to the top of one of the towers of the complex, from which you can enjoy one of the widest views of the city (but the climb requires a fee, with an ordinary ticket of 5 euros).

Slightly posh shopping center in Lisbon
It is very beautiful and filled with well-known and slightly more local stores.
The big plus remains the panoramic view offered by the roof of the shopping center.

Our useless tour guide was driving by this building and told us it was a must do. We had time so we walked over the next day. The building was interesting given how modern and timeless it appears after 20+ years. He told us it was the oldest shopping center with high end shops.
We didn't find any high end shops, they are all on the main street a short walk from the Ritz-Four Seasons. The grocery store was the best part. Very large for inside a mall. We walked around all levels of the mall and didn't recognize any of the names of the shops. Nothing we saw appealed to us, so we left. It was nice to walk around, and a nice walk from the Four Seasons with mild weather in April. I wouldn't make a special trip unless I needed some groceries, which we didn't.

The huge building looks like a remnant of popular US television series from the 1980's. Impressive in style it is though outdated with a labyrinthic and dark interior. A large Aschan supermarket seemed to be the main attraction.

The Amoreiras shopping centre is in the Amoreiras centre of Lisbon. It consists of a large number of shops, cinemas and food halls.
All are quite busy, but it’s good quality. Soft, relaxing music plays in the background.
It’s worth a visit if you’re staying in Lisbon. There is also a 360 degree vantage point, which you have to pay for as it’s the one of the highest points in Lisbon

For duty free shopping make sure you ask for the VAT paperwork from each retailer because they will not offer it, like they do in many of the shops in Spain. Some stores display duty free but do not advertise this. VAT is now at 23% in Portugal. Give yourself plenty of time at the Lisbon airport to get your refund because they are understaffed.

We were here for the 360 degree panoramic view but had a brief look around but didn't do any shopping. It's a modern well maintained shopping centre with high end stores and a few eateries. Not really for me but if you are after some retail therapy then this might be up your street.

There are several huge malls in Lisbon all of them with the same shops. The Amoreiras shopping center is not that big but it's surely the best in quality. Also with good restaurants. If you really want to shop this is the place.

If you're into fashion, Amoreiras Shopping Mall is the best value for money in Europe. All fashion stylists are there, with incredibly low prices, in 250 stores. But Amoreiras goes beyond that: 50 great restaurants and 10 high-tech cinemas. I strongly recommend Amoreiras, within walking distance to Lisbon downtown.

Most shopping centres change names and themes, but you always end up with the same stores inside. However, Amoreiras is different. It is not the biggest shopping centre in Lisbon but the variety is great. You will see shops and brands that you do not normally see and besides you have a very good restaurant area upstairs. About 1km from Pombal it is easy to get to and worth a visit.

I will be staying at altis prime hotel I am told this on the edge of Amoreiras area in lisbon. Can anyone tell me which area this id in or closest to: baixa,barrio alta, alfama,etc. i would like to know as much of the travel/tourist info refers to these neighborhood names?

Bairro Alto is closest to Amoreiras and worth a visit. Further down you find the Chiado area which is a "must visit". Then it is not far to go to Baixa, but be aware that this is a very touristic area and dinner may cost more here than anywhere else. IMHO.

This hotel is located on Rua Rodrigo Da Fonseca 4, Santo Antonio, Lisbon, less then 10 min. walking front Marques de Pombal Square and the Avenida de Libertade which is an important roundabout in the City of Lisbon, with a huge column dedicated to Sebastiao Jose de Carvalho e Melo, 1st Marquis of Pombal. The Marquess is shown looking towards the Baica Pombalina, the Ares of Lisbon that was rebuilt under jos direction after a disastrous 1755 Lisbon earthqu.ake
