We enjoyed a fascinating visit to this museum last week. We seemed to be the only visitors for an hour or two in the afternoon, so took our time admiring the collections and the house itself. Highly recommend a visit as it makes a good break from the hustle and bustle of the rest of Lisbon's often over-touristed attractions. The collection itself is varied and interesting, with something for everyone, and the interpretation was much more useful than many of the more popular museums had! The ticket price was also very reasonable and the staff friendly.

The most exquisite museum collection of China and objects I have ever seen. So beautiful. Not on the tourist trail.
A private museum housing the personal collection of a rich man in the house that was his home. Chinese porcelain was my favourite also the collection of porcelain boxes, one hand painted with a portrait of Lord Nelson.
I don’t know why this doesn’t feature in the Guide books. The building was immaculate, the staff polite and very smartly dressed. I felt like a guest not a paying visitor. There were lovely items in the gift shop which oddly was closed.
I shall come again.

This museum was everything I ever wanted. I absolutely LOVE old ornate objects with historical significance, and seeing beautifully decorated rooms was incredible. There was plenty of descriptive signage throughout the museum, so I felt as if I learned a lot as well. I took a little over two hours, but that is because I really took my time looking through everything. You could probably do it in 1 - 1.5 hrs if you wanted.

I think my friends and I were the only visitors while we were there. It is definitely an underrated hidden gem, and I would recommend fitting it into your day.

This is a mansion that a wealthy arts patron and collector turned into a personal museum and then opened to the public. It's fascinating and truly eclectic in its variety and quality. Everything from "important" jewelry to antique toothpick holders with some masterpieces in between. Really interesting and not crowded. Easy to get to off the Avenida Liberdade.

Not far from Avenida da Liberdade , there is this beautiful and high quality fine arts collection. Great French furniture, rare English silvery, beautiful China and tapestries, etc. The ensemble shows the eclectic and very taste of a low profile Portuguese collector

Lovely house museum with eclectic collection of art, textiles, decorative furniture and housewares. Start with the video about the house owners before moving through the rooms. They might not point that out when you enter. Staff was very courteous.

Stopping in here by the chance of our hotel being nearby was an excellent addition to our trip.

The 25 rooms are filled to the brim with wonders and treasures of all kinds. The watch collection and Portuguese style tile work were personal favourites.

Been to Lisbon a few times before so was looking for a different museum to visit. By reading Trip Advisor I picked this one and was glad I did. It was terrific from beginning to end. The display items covered so many collections. The order was great and the rooms so well organised. From a room of toothpick holders to a room of watches. I would strongly advise making time to visit this little known museum. It is bigger than it looks and my husband and I both loved it.

Time flew as we visited this well organized museum. A large variety of collections starting with a beautiful chapel, clocks ringing throughout the house, beautiful paintings here and there, fans like you would never have guessed existed, plenty of items with a history.
All this away from the crowds! Well worth the visit.
