The area

Address
Neighborhood: Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!

There are not many viewpoints in the world which are accessed by walking into a supermarket and taking an elevator, but this one is. Enter the Pingo Doce supermarket near the base of the castle hill and it will take you to to this viewpoint, which is a short walk from the castle. The view is over the centre of Lisbon and the bay to the west. There's also a restaurant there where you can have a meal, or just have a drink. A great place for a G&T in the afternoon. The supermarket from where to catch the elevator is called, Pingo Doce do Chão do Loureiro, and it is located in Largo Adelino Amaro da Costa. It's much easier to catch the elevator up to the castle and then enjoy the attractions when walking down the hill back to the centre of the city.

It's another miradouro, pretty much the same sights as others. There was a man playing Brazilian music in an authentic way, it was nice to listen to.
Maybe what I liked most in this miradouro is the building which is located the miradouro, the architecture itself, pretty neat.

Another one of the great viewpoints of the city. There are many, and if you happen to pass this area, stop and take some photos. But do not go out of your way to get here, as there are many other places to get the views.

The elevator is working, but it only leads to a closed gate... apparently as part of the covid-19 restrictions the viewpoint is closed, what a shame! A peek through the gate is all you can do...

This was a good place to get views from above the city. It was easy to find. It's worth it if you have the time.

The Largo Chão do Loureiro's car park features 5 levels of street art commissioned by the city, each with a distinctive style and feel.

A car park might not be high on many tourists' to-do lists, but this is well worth a look if you're in the area.

It can be a tad confusing getting into the building and navigating the various levels (the fire door-looking door is just a normal stair, don't worry!), but the art itself is terrific.

It's free and you can see it all in 15 minutes - what more could you need to know?

This is the top floor of the parking house Estacionamento do Chão do Loureiro and it offers a nice view of the city. It also got a restaurant and you can access it through the elevator next to the supermarket on the ground level.

I suggest you visit the park house itself as they have commissioned local artists to make graffiti on the walls of the park house. Each floor features a work of an artist. It is really good! Be careful while walking as cars are passing by.

It is a nice thing to do on a rainy day and it is free!
