I took the vegan pastel da nata cooking class with three other participants this evening while in Lisbon on travel. The facility is convenient to get to and is very clean and comfortable. I was greeted by the owner Ana and had some great conversations while waiting for the other participants to arrive. Ana has a great personality and she makes everyone feel comfortable and part of a family while she teaches us. Everyone participates and it’s very fun. I learned new techniques and was extremely happy with the experience. Ana’s style let me find the confidence to make my own pastel da nata. Aside from the enjoyable class, the best part of the experience was sitting down and tasting our results. Absolutely delicious, perfectly crunchy puff pastry and smooth flavorful custard. I loved everything about this course and will return for another course next time I am in Lisbon. Most of all, a warm Thank You to Ana.

We had an incredible experience. Ana tailored her approach to the skillset & interests of our group. And went above and beyond to share information that I personally found very interesting about cooking techniques and background.
We learned practical skills to take home, got inspired to expand our cooking repertoire and most of all had such a lovely experience that will last in our memories for a long time to come. I have done cooking classes around the world and I can not recommend the authenticity and knowledge that Ana brings enough.
Truly a transformative experience.

This was an excellent class. Ana did a great job of changing camera's so we could see what she was doing, checking in with us to review our work, filling in history information as we went. Really felt like I was there in person in many ways - I didn't believe we could do this in 90 minutes but it was true! And nata to eat in my Minneapolis home at the end.

Having learned about the Pastel de Nata (Portuguese Custard Tart) prior to our visit to Lisbon, we not only wanted to taste them we decided to try and learn how to make them once we got home. Luckily I found the Lisbon Cooking Academy who had a small class available on Friday afternoon during our trip in September. Our class was just a small group of four which was perfect for getting a hands-on experience with Chef Ana Viçoso. Ana did a great job of explaining the process and allowing us to participate in each step of making our pastéis de nata. After we were done, we got to try the results we made – they were delicious - and got to take some of them with us to go. Afterwards, we also got an electronic copy of the Lisbon Cooking Academy Cookbook which includes the recipe we made along with many other Portuguese specialties. If you’re interested in a learning how to make Portuguese custard tarts, sign up for this class while you are in Lisbon!

We had the pleasure of spending a day cooking with Anna and her assistant Rosalie. Anna did a great job of explaining things at the market as we got the ingredients for our lunch. We made a shrimp starter that was delicious and I’m sure I will make this at home. We chose pork tenderloin for our main course and Anna kept us busy chopping and slicing all the fresh ingredients. Salad was cucumbers and tomatoes, and dessert was called the “double chin” 😀
There was cheese, bread, and chorizo to munch on while we worked, not to mention wine as well. When everything was ready, we sat down together and enjoyed a leisurely meal together.
The best part is not to have to do the dishes and cleanup!
It was a fun time together.

We had so much fun cooking with Ana. She was a fountain of knowledge and a great chef. We arranged a class with just the four of us, and Ana made sure everyone was involved as she taught us how to create the famous Portuguese custard tarts. As one of us was gluten free she also took us through cooking another sweet called "Angel's double chins" (Papos de anjo) that is naturally gluten free.

If you want something fun and interesting to do while visiting Lisbon, I'd definitely recommend the cooking academy.

Rita (our chef and instructor) definitely made our class fantastic! She shared so much knowledge and history of Lisbon cooking with us. We made one of her favorite family dishes that her mother makes, a small dish salad with garbanzo beans and boiled cod and Angel's two cheeks dessert. It is a hands on class so you are not just watching food being prepared. It was just my friend and I so we prepared all of the meal between the two of us. It is a little difficult to find at night especially in an uber, but our driver got out of the car and spotted it down the set of outdoor steps. My friend and I wanted to do another class but couldn't find something to fit in our last two days. Highly recommend!!!

Ana did a great job via zoom with an all remote audience. We had never attempted puff pastery dough and had no idea what to expect. She was very precise and very clear in her instructions and our little custard's turned out great. We would do it again.

My friends and I wanted to learn how to make Pasteis de nata and also have some fun.
At the end of this workshop, we were eating some delicious pasteis and bringing so much laughter and joy with us!
Ana was our chef and she explained every step, showed us the technique and then let us do the work. She was willing to answer all our questions and also shared some secret tips with us.
We learned how to make Pasteis at a home kitchen and we can’t wait to try making them on our own!
Thank you Ana!!
It was truly a wonderful experience!

My wife and I took Ana's Pastel de Nata class, and it was a fantastic experience! Ana is a great teacher -- kind, encouraging and patient. Her facilities are top-notch, and her hospitality so generous. We were only in Lisbon for a short while, and even tho the scheduled class wasn't available, Ana went out of her way to fit us in for a personal session before we left. And the pastels were delicious! I highly recommend the Lisbon Cooking Academy.
