- Herbert C1,948 contributionsIf you want to admire the iconic 25 de Abril Bridge from a special vantage point, a visit to the Pilar 7 Experience is a must. Located at the 7th pylon (the bridge has 14 pillars in total) near the LX Factory complex, this attraction includes a museum with exhibits on the history, construction and engineering of the bridge, as well as an observation deck. You can also catch a glimpse of the multitudes of cables which are strung together to make up the gigantic cable supporting the bridge. The highlight attraction is of course the 80 metres high observation deck, which can supposedly be reached via the elevator, but unfortunately the elevator has not been functioning for quite a while now. Left with no choice, we have to climb up the wide staircases of the pillar, equivalent to a 26 storeys building, before reaching the observation deck for unique views above the river, at the same level of the bridge's upper deck and over the city. Entry is free with the Lisboa Card, plus it's usually not as crowded as the Belem attractions, so it's definitely worth spending a couple of hours in this area to cover both the Pilar 7 Experience and LX Factory.Visited December 2024Traveled with friendsWritten March 11, 2025
- florenceg689119 contributionsPillar 7 is easily found (only wide and grey pillar, visible from a distance). There was hardly anyone on weekdays in the middle of the afternoon. It must be said that the elevator that allows to climb the 26 floors was (still) broken down. It's indicated at the entrance. We therefore pay only 3€ the climb on foot. It goes quite well, we can stop between each floor if necessary (metal steps). On the 5th floor there hard left a view and explanation of the cables and measures of the bridge, but nothing more. Which I find disappointing! Upstairs, the view is 360 degrees panoramic, we are at the height of the cars.Visited August 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 10, 2024
- Esther1072018Bolsward, The Netherlands55 contributionsFrankly, it was disappointing. That was also because the elevator was broken and we had to walk all 30 floors up (and down again). Well an experience so to speak..... I found the exhibition very bare. I just expected more of it in terms of explanation, seeing things and more about the construction and the building process. On top you have an incredibly beautiful view and it is of course a fine piece of craftsmanship.Visited February 2025Traveled with familyWritten February 27, 2025
- CuddsHolyhead, United Kingdom7,434 contributionsWe wanted to try out the P7 experience with our Lisbon pass, the experience started at ground level when we were told the lift to the top wasn’t working , so 26 flights of stairs 300 steps later we arrived at the top , some stunning views and a clear plastic stepping platform to add to the experience . The bridge is impressive at all levels vu up close and personal is an extra bit cheeky. The walk down was long long but fun all in all. The P7 experience added to my 24,400 steps I did that day . Thank youVisited October 2024Traveled with familyWritten October 17, 2024
- DanLondon, United Kingdom264 contributionsWe gave this a go to kill some time before the Monastery and because it was free with the Lisboa pass we had. The lift was not working but at 26 flights we didn't mind too much and on the plus side it was quiet. The views of the bridge at the top are decent and the glass floor viewing deck was quite cool. If you are in that part of Lisbon and have a pass it's worth a go, but I wouldn't recommend paying solely to do this experience.Visited May 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten May 16, 2024
- l h7 contributionsUnfortunately, the elevator was broken. After 2 days still, the pilar is not on a (tourist) route. You go there especially, too bad (disrespectful) that nowhere says that the elevator is broken. If you look up the opening hours, there is nothing about an elevator that is broken.Visited August 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten August 11, 2024
- Alan MSheffield, United Kingdom28 contributionsApart from the lift to the viewing platform being out of service when I visited I am realy pleased I did visit this unusual attraction. The view from the top of the bridge, the river and the city are great. Took some lovely photos while I got my breath back from the 8.5 minutes walk up. Probably because the lift wasn't working there wern't many people at the top, so every cloud does have a silver lining. Really enjoyed the exhibition display areas as well for the history and bacjground technical explanations as well. Although I didnt use either the climbing wall and bar at ground level also looked great.Visited June 2024Traveled soloWritten June 12, 2024
- Francisco OliveiraBraga, Portugal20 contributionsIn this visit you have the possibility to climb to a pillar of the bridge 25 and April By the route before starting to climb has the history of the bridge Up to the 1st floor go by elevator where you can see where the cables are tight From the I have to make the visit on foot to the top , there are quite a few steps to climb there is an elevator but they do not let it use say it is broken but by the comments here then it is years Otherwise I did with a child of 5 years he did super well the route but is a child used to walking and always full of energy to want to explore new sites I just don't leave Nora Max because they don't let use the elevatorVisited September 2024Traveled with familyWritten September 19, 2024

Having seen the previous review in February 2024 indicating the lift was now working and having an interest in bridge design and construction, we thought this would be an excellent attraction to experience to visit on 25th February 2024. It was not!
When we arrived, we were told the lift was not operating, (no explanation as to why, windy day? lift broken? open later in the day?) but we were welcome to pay for entry to the exhibition centre and climb the 300+ stairs to the observation platform. (We later learned from one one of the attendants that the reason the lift was not operating was because it was broken which was a frequent occurrence. There was no indication of when it would be fixed. Seems ironic that lift so often broken at a site of a major feat of engineering! )
We decided not to climb the stairs, but did pay to visit the exhibition centre and outside information trail.
The content of the exhibition and display (yes, singular), was poor, and not what you'd expect in Feb 2024. The exhibition was in one room and consisted of a model of the bridge in the centre of a glass case, with a timeline of the history of the bridge and key world events round the perimeter of the glass case. No interactive displays for children, no photos of the original construction works.
Outside there is a trail of steel floor plaques giving facts about some materials used in construction, but these are difficult to read, and the facts are just repeated at other plaques.
As we're 'oldies' we paid concession rate for entry of c3 Euros each, so we didn't feel too ripped off; just disappointed that this attraction could be so much better if the lift was working and the exhibition room added some more photos of the construction and workers involved, details of materials and where they were sourced, quantities used etc, interactive displays, details of the construction and impact the bridge has had on travel.

It's a good idea to climb one of the peripheral pylons (those in reinforced concrete) to have not only a panoramic view from above, but a close-up look at the structure of the bridge given that it cannot be crossed by pedestrians. At the moment, however, the lift isn't working and you have to walk the equivalent of 25 floors to reach the cantilevered platform above where you have a glimpse of the street level and the railway level below; the view is behind special glass panels (with obvious reflection problems if you have to take photos); from the same platform you also have panoramic views, in particular towards the river estuary and the western area of the city, but still nothing very significant. Obviously the visit route has stages that provide the visitor with details on the characteristics and history of the bridge. For now, even if I have the Lisbon Card (which gives free access) I would not recommend coming up here because in my opinion the effort of the climb on foot is not compensated by the view from above, and the time spent (view also its position away from the other main attractions of the city) can instead be used to see other things. For those who decide to come anyway, I remind you not to forget to request the virtual experience (if you don't have the Lisbon Card, however, you have to pay a small supplement): it takes place in a small room adjacent to the ticket office, where via a 3D viewer you are virtually immersed in the midst of a team of maintenance workers working on the tie rods and pylons of the bridge.

We went there for the first time at 5 p.m. as it was indicated that it closed at 6 p.m. but we were unable to enter because the elevator was broken and the last entry was at 4:30 p.m. So pay attention to the time.
We went back the next day. We climbed the 370 steps. And during this climb the noise and vibrations of the trains and cars passing above our heads are impressive.
A pose takes place on the climb allowing you to see the ropes and above all an impression of passing on a glass footbridge in the void but nevertheless they are mirrors. Very well done.
Arriving at the top the view was magnificent. A glass platform for taking photos is spectacular.
We did it for free with the Lisbon card without regrets

Fabulous views, but the elevator wasn't working, and from what I see it's been a long time like this. It is 25 floors and if it is included as one of the top visits of the Lisboa Card should be the elevator working perfectly. Besides the unsympathetic workers who warn you of a miracle, and neither was a museum open on floor 4 about it. So you can't have an attraction open.

Nice little exhibition worth a visit if on your way to LX Factory. There's a brief exhibition giving the history of the bridge and how it came to be and then the lift takes you up most of the way so that you get great views of the construction of the bridge and the amazing engineering feat it is and they throw in a few vertigo-inducing tricks too. The platform is tiny and of course see-through but also really cool to be so close to the car level and also observe the trains going past. You also get views of the city of course. It wasn't very busy when we went, so an enjoyable experience.

As I have high interest in bridges and constructions this was ofcourse a must. The information about the bridge is given in a very inventive way; on big metal panels on the ground between the receptionbuilding and the pylon itself so outdoors. Very informative and gives a good insight on the construction. In the pylon itself you can see the anchorcables and how the are connected to the ballast. Also in the elevatorbuilding is a model of the bridge and a timeline on the “birth” of the construction, including some irrelevant info on the first man in space and the introduction of the euro for example which has nothing to do with the bridge. The viewingplatform was a bit dissapointing; there isn’t much to see as one side is blocked of by the road and on the other side isn’t that much to see as the beklemtonen area is to far away for a good overview. But when interested in bridges or construction and you have the time it’s definitely worth a visit.

The Pilar 7 "Bridge Experience" was totally worth the visit! We decided to go because it was included for free with the Lisboa Pass package, and I'm so glad we did! It was educational, but also exciting. Agree with other reviews that this is not for folks who are afraid of heights. But if you can handle heights, this experience offers an incredible view of the city and river. Definitely recommend!

Interesting experience for the views from the platform at the top, as well as the museum part. There is still a small presentation of the construction of the bridge in a more dynamic and appealing format.
ATTENTION: ELEVATOR IS NOT WORKING (there are 25 floors of stairs)

When we arrived it rained a lot. Group of women over 70 years of age. They were obnoxious at the front desk and didn't want us to visit. In bad ways we were told that the elevator was not working and that it was more than 300 stairs... little less that we left. The day was very unpleasant and we decided to try to make the visit. Nobody guides you, you go through the spaces alone.

This is not for the faint hearted or if you suffer from vertigo. Interesting walk through the concrete garden around the cable anchor points. Only €6 for an adult entry price.
There is a scale model which gives a list of dates and significant events of the times during the construction stages.
The lift is glass. Made my heart miss a beat and I didn’t manage the glass bottomed viewing platform. Not quite brave enough for that.
Lovely view across Lisbon and the River Tagus.
The vehicles are unnervingly about 10 feet away going across the bridge by the side of you as well as 143 trains that also use the crossing which is 24 floors up.

Hi there. I am pinning spots to my Google map, but can't specifically find the Bridge Experience. Obviously, it is easy to find the bridge, but can you help with how to get into the this attraction? Thanks.

The entrance is easy to see well signposted on the right hand side of the road-about 20/30minutes walk to Belem if you aren’t doing the bus tour-enjoy!
