Very impressive building. Stained glass windows are amazing. Additional fees payable to access the alter. Recommended.

The design is reminiscent of the Notre Dame but don't mention that here because like most European cities they are fiercely proud of their unique churches. Pretty and well frequented by tourists but nothing too special.

Stopped by for a few minutes and stayed a few more as there was a wedding taking place. The Cathedral is impressive but nothing special, particularly as we have just come from Salamanca. Earthquakes over the years have made building in Lisbon difficult!!

Twelfth century cathedral in old Lisbon. One of the few buildings which survived the 1755 great earthquake, tsunami and fire. Well worth a visit. Photography is permitted inside the church and there is no specific dress code.

Visited the cathedral expecting a lot more. It was fairly small, and not very grand inside. It was peaceful despite being quite busy, and you're not charged for entry into the main area. There are more impressive churches to visit in Lisbon.

A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site,
Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply
"Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake
construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755
earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its
name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in
Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the
Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the
