Hi I’m Ruthy! If you book my tour you may meet me or my friends Francisco, Rita & Marianne! :-)
I’m 29 and I’m a real foodie.
I live in Lisbon & I'm in love with the city, its culture & its gastronomy. That’s why I’ve founded my very own 18-tastings food experience company here, called Treasures of Lisboa.
I want to take you off the beaten paths, in Lisbon’s most narrow streets, to taste the best Portuguese dishes & drinks in authentic places. Join the fun!

Come with me and taste the best of Lisbon! Wine, charcuterie, typical pastries and many other gastronomic pearls will ensure you take in authentic and picturesque Portugal.

Get lost in a labyrinth of winding alleys, full of hidden treasures. Let yourself be transported by the soft light of Alfama and stroll through aromas and flavors that will touch all your senses. Here, gastronomy is, in its richness and authenticity, a hymn to the spirit of Lisbon.

OUR COMMITMENT IS ALSO SOCIAL:
- No plastic tour: we’re the 1st ones in Lisbon to have banished all kind of plastic from our experience.

- We respect local people: no more than 12 persons on our tour! We’re integrated in the local community: the grannies of Alfama love us ;-)

- We’re currently establishing a partnership with Re-food a community that works to eliminate food waste and hunger in each neighborhood of Lisbon. More info coming soon!

We’re proud to be the first Portuguese gastronomic tour of Alfama but we’re more than just a food tour, come and see by yourself.

We had a lovely time on this food tour and I definitely recommend it! We got to sample plenty of traditional food and drinks, as well as listen to fun facts and storytelling along the quaint and narrow streets of Alfama. If you can, try to do this tour at the beginning of your trip in Lisbon, as you will want to revisit some of these places again plus you learn so much about what to look out for in typical food and drink! Ruthy really loves her "job", she's a born natural! She takes really good care of her guests, knows so much about everything, and is really easy to get along with! :) Thank you once again for this great experience! :)

This was an excellent food tour, especially helpful was Ruthy who had to reschedule us due to the COVID situation. Our guide, Rita, was so friendly from the moment we first met her. Her knowledge of the Alfama district was second to none and we enjoyed the variety of local food and drink. We were a small group and enjoyed the experience immensely with a lot of humour (English). Rita was even knowledgeable of other countries and surprised us when she knew of Vanuatu where we attended our daughters wedding last year. Thank you for an excellent afternoon and making our visit to Lisbon so enjoyable.

After being cancelled by another, more expensive food tour, because I was the only booking, I turned to Ruthy’s Treasure of Lisboa Food Tour. This was fortuitous. Although again, I was the only booking, Ruthy offered to move the tour or run it solo, as I wished. I decided, on the basis of her good communication to go solo, and I was privileged to spend almost 4 hours on one of the best tours I have experienced. The tour was a informative mixture of walking, views, history, culture, food and drink. This was an afternoon tour, my advice is to skip lunch and in fact I skipped dinner too. I tasted olive oil, sardines, tomato rice with cod fish cake, octopus salad, cod on toasted bread, black pig salami and 3 cheeses, pastel de nata and pastel de Alfama The sardines, tomato rice, salad and cod on toasted bread were my favourites. And for drink I tried beer, vinho verde, Ginjinha, red wine and coffee. What made the tour special was Ruthy. It was as if I was being shown round by my foodie friend who wanted to make sure that I had a good time and learned something about food drink and the culture of Alfama. Highly recommended.

Rita, our guide, killed it. She was an incredible tour guide who really made this tour amazing. We had a small group and she engaged with us during our tour quite well. Her high, inviting energy was sustained throughout the entire experience. We had a nice variety of foods and drinks that were well explained. We definitely were pleased with amount of food and drink at the end of the trip. Would recommend this to anyone.
