We were educated and entertained from the early morning pickup at our hotel to a late afternoon drop-off. Pedro is an authority on Portuguese history, with ample details delivered in a relaxed manner: royal ancestry, dates, and significant events, all woven into a tapestry of time to understand what life in Portugal, generally, and in Sintra, in particular, must have been like over the past couple of centuries to better appreciate the grandeur of the Palace, while reflecting upon a bygone era against a contemporary backdrop where royals no longer reign and their former opulence is open for public display. We accepted Pedro's suggestion and took a scenic tour from Sintra to Alcabideche to enjoy a lovely meal at a seaside restaurant. There was never a lull in the pleasant conversation as Pedro regaled us with incredible geographic, cultural, horticultural, and topical information allowing for free exchange of opinions, congenial debate, and shared life experiences. Pedro started as a professional host and concluded our tour as a new friend.

We spent an absolutely wonderful half-day walking tour of Lisbon with Pedro! His knowledge of the city and its history is deep and personal - making it so very interesting — not just pointing out names, dates and places. He had a wonderful ability to gauge our interest and to dig deep into those areas knitting together a personalize portrait of Lisbon through the ages. His deliberate route through the winding streets, hills and riverfront of the city is a lesson in itself of Lisbon’s history and cultural development. You’ll come away from this tour not only having “seen” everything but with a lasting impression of the personality of this beautiful and important city.

Our guide was Pedro. My wife and I would like to thank Pedro for his excellent tour of Lisbon during the afternoon in November 2024. His knowledge of Lisbon's history, the streets of Lisbon and its landmarks made the tour one of the best. It's a walking tour and we walked. Pedro weaved in and out of the streets of Lisbon making each turn another surprise. I would highly recommend this tour guide, Pedro, and the company, Lisbon & Beyond.

Cristina Duarte was right on time, established a great rapport with our two grandchildren and displayed a deep knowledge of the city of Lisbon and its history. She was very flexible and wanted to show us what we wanted to see. She had some excellent suggestions about places to go after the tour.
The tour we took with her included Bairro Alto, Chiado, Aflama and Baixa. Cristina made our first day a wonderful beginning to an incredible adventure in Portugal.

My husband and I were in Lisbon and Porto recently. Over the years when visiting a new city, we like to learn as much as we can about the place, including visiting the sites and learning the history. We were so fortunate to explore Lisbon with 2 amazing tour guides. We took 2 private half day walking tours in Lisbon with Cristina Duarte and walked everywhere. She is charming, knowledgeable, energetic, and fun to be with. We then had 3 full day driving tours outside of Lisbon with her partner, Pedro Lourenco. We visited Sintra, Nazare, Obidos, Cascais, Evora, Alcobaca and returned to Lisbon via the scenic coastal route. Pedro is also a pro like Cristina! We had such a great time with them and recommend them highly. I found their contact email in the Rick Steves tour guidebook and arranged the private tours a few weeks before we left our home in San Diego.

My wife and I have just returned to Canada. having spent a wonderful and memorable 8 hours with Pedro in and around Sintra. He is truly an exceptional guide, beyond question one of the best we have ever had. His knowledge about all aspects of Portugal, its people, history and culture is encyclopedic. He explains everything in a clear, thoughtful manner, with an underlying passion and a keen sense of humour. He is kind and thoughtful, constantly checking in to make sure his visitors are comfortable and content.
Simply put, it doesn't get any better than this. We hope to use Pedro's services again, and we would recommend him in a heartbeat.

We had two outstanding experiences with Pedro from Lisbon & Beyond. First, he took us on a half-day walking tour of Central Lisbon. He was very knowledgeable about the history of Lisbon and the architecture. He dropped us at a restaurant after the tour and the food was excellent. Second, we spent a day with Pedro as our driver and guide to Sintra and the surrounding areas. Again, his knowledge of the history of the area was excellent. We lunched at a great restaurant right on the ocean and watched surfers. It was great getting to know Pedro. We highly recommend him and Lisbon & Beyond!

We had a marvelous tour with Pedro - he is full of knowledge and wit and the tour sites were perfect for an overview of Lisbon, it's history, culture and poets. I highly recommend this tour. You'll learn a lot and see several of the most beautiful places in Lisbon. Thank you Pedro!

A wonderful half day introduction to Lisbon. Pedro is knowledgeable, attentive, interesting, friendly, thoughtful, and easygoing, with a deep affection for his city and country. Stellar tour, highly recommend you spend time with him.

Pedro was the perfect guide for my family and we 100% enjoyed our tour with him. He was able to satisfy my husband's desire for history and my daughter was pleased about how relaxed our tour was. All of us loved his choice for lunch with a view of the ocean, and I appreciated Pedro's humor. It was a tour we will all remember with fondness for the scenery and our special guide!
