Thanks to a local friend's recommendation and my son's GPS we landed in Casa do Alentejo and we were happy to visit this restaurant with is very authentic Portuguese. So much on the wall and ceilings to see! I read a few reviews from an American and Canadian and I felt like " Why don't you stay Home"? The restaurant was absolutely fantastic. We ordered the lamb, the pheasant and rabbit and they were out of this world. We in all modesty used to good food and this was one of our favorite dinners in Lisboa and there is no doubt we shall visit again.

If you’re close to St. Dominic’s Church, then you’re close to the Casa do Alentejo. It would be quite easy just to walk past this place without even noticing it. However, if your clued in as to what’s inside, it’s certainly worth the effort to check it out.

Interior houses a restaurant and a bar, but it’s not necessary to have a meal or a drink to view the Islamic art and architecture within.

Probably not worth a special trip to see this place, but if you’re in the area definitely worth a quick visit.

This is a historic and cultural gem! You must go just to see the place. We found it because our guide stopped in during a walking tour of Lisbon. We ate at the restaurant upstairs The food was good and service very good. Take time to walk around and see the banquet hall, library and tavern. It’s worth the visit!

Located on the pedestrian Rua das Portas de Santo AntĂŁo this townhouse sports a spectacular Moorish inspired courtyard and a Portuguese restaurant. Both are worth visiting.

After 8 visits to Lisbon in the past 20 years Casa do Alentejo remains my favourite place for a few drinks and a snack early evening. You need to know that the building has a number of different establishments within it, each having its own characteristics. The first thing you are likely to see is a shop / bar opening onto street at Rua das Portas de Santo Antao, I only wandered in there once and it looks ok, but the real Casa is through the door to the right and then up the stairs. The decor in the hall at the top of the stairs is amazing, just off this hall is the terrace and the bar, here you'll find just about the cheapest pint of Superbock in Lisbon, cheeses and sausage platters and other cheap snacks. Sit on the internal terrace or in the bar and feel like one of the locals, it always seems to have a few characters.
If you venture up another flight of stairs you will find the main restaurant, which I believe is run separately and does more formal meals and the amazing ballroom which may be open.

I was looking forward to eat the carne de porco á alentejana, but arriving there it was a deception, horrible carne de porco a alentejana, I have eaten much better and a real carne de porco a alentejana, this one tasted so fake. Not coming back never ever. Only the place itself was nice around.

We were tired from our flight and wanted something simple. There is a formal restaurant if you go upstairs, but we stopped in the bar/taverna area. We ate outside and went it to order at the counter (this is faster than waiting for a waiter). Wine inexpensive, gazpacho was delicious - very different from what we had in Spain. Sausage, bread and olives - a great start to our Lisbon adventure.
You must walk upstairs to get to this bar and then up another set of stairs to the formal restaurant.

Amazing architecture and history. Possibly built in the late seventeenth century, in the early twentieth century (1917-1919) it was leased to a company that transformed a part of the old palace in the 1st casino of Lisbon – the Majestic Club.Since then always trying to attract customers to its luxurious gaming rooms or the lavish parties that took place in the beautiful Mirror Room. An amazing historical site to visit - you can also get a drink at the bar or choose to visit the restaurant for a full meal.

It was easier than expected to get a reservation using the online option from the google maps. We ate in one of two dining rooms decorated with tiles from the Antelejo region. The hosts did not really explain the history or function of the building, but that is a good reason to do a bit of research before you go--then just enjoy the ambiance. Dining here gives an excellent sense of being enveloped in local history. The place is used by the immigrant community from the Antelejo region to Lisbon. The food was great and the ambiance supreme
I had the gazpacho soup, pork and clams (try it, you'll like it) and my companion had the cod. Food was great--the atmosphere amazing

A merchant’s house forms the backdrop to this friendly and quirky restaurant. The various tiled rooms and courtyard are like those of a caravanserai, whilst the food is tasty, generous and promptly served
