Although there is an interesting, small collection of musical instruments, the main attraction here is this 100 year old mansion. Beautifully designed by a Portuguese architect for an Irish-Portuguese noble, this house has wonderful tile work and a bit of faded elegance. Guided tours are available in Portuguese and English. This small museum is not worth a trip out from central Lisbon, but if you are staying in Cascais or Estoril, it is worth a visit.

Located in the beautiful residential area of Monte Estoril, an outstanding private "palacio"&garden/park is waiting to be discovered!

The very empathic and knowledgable lady at the entrance gave us some very interesting and surprising information 🤗

The "Sintra style" mansion was built +/- 100 years ago, for the Irish/Port. family O'Neill. Don't miss the details/stained glass entrance door: shamrock and "LAMH DEARG EIRIN" (The Red Hand of Ireland). To the left you'll find the St.Patricks chapel.

Plenty of azulejos/tiles to admire (brought from different already existing places/houses).

The next owners were a rich Port. couple (Belard). When his spouse passed away and without having children, Mr Belard donated the beautiful mansion to the municipality of Cascais ... (Verdades de Faria is the name of Mr Belards wife).

The music collection is interesting, as well as the temporary exhibition showing the democratics fight against Salazar.

Main asset however is the beautiful palacio, park&garden!

This museum is a little difficult to find but worth it. A beautiful old house and fantastic collection of instruments. It's not a large museum but really well laid out and we'll looked after. The staff look after you, explain about the building and contents but then they leave you alone to browse , which is perfect.

Visited on a rainy day for something to do and loved it. The mansion is decorated with beautiful old traditional blue and white tiles brought from all over Portugal by the wealthy Irish owner and has a lovely courtyard. The museum has exhibits about Michel Giacometti and interesting instruments on display. There is also a pleasant garden.
