Visited Boxing day 2019, weather really nice for the time of year, this is a beautiful part of Portugal, only 20 miles or so from Lisbon. Well worth a visit.

Great views and a lovely place to explore, wander around and sample different foods. Many quaint shops, great restaurants and views of colourful fishing boats. A photographer's delight.

Cascais is only 25 miles from Lisbon and is the beachside resort town for the Lisbonites, so in season it gets crowded at weekends. Cascais is on the Portugese Riviera, it is a young city with many attractions, and only a short distance from Sintra, famous for its colorful castle and gardens. The Palacio da Pina is a must visit but you will need good walking shoes to get there (but there’s always a taxi and a bus from the center). Sintra and Cascais was the home of Monarchs and was visited by many famous writers including Byron. The reason Cascias is so popular is because of its weather and its many fine restaurants – my favorites are 5 Sentidos (reserve a table) and Apeadeiro, the best chargrilled fish in town; and for a coffee and a snack it’s Sacolinha’s. Estoril is just down the road and is famous for its Casino – it’s where Casino Royale became James Bond – the Casino has a very good buffet which includes a bottle of wine. Cascais is a fab place just to hang out on the beach or go exploring the countryside - and don’t forget there is always Porto and the Algarve.

Walking on the beach from Cascais to Sao Joao do Estoril. Starting from the nice fishing harbour of Cascais, enjoy the view and outdoor cafes.

We stayed in Cascais a week and every day had beautiful long walk to Estoril along the see cost. Good promenade with a lot of cafes, bars, sport equipment. It's almost hour and half one way.

A very scenic area to take a stroll around, ideal to take slow pace and take in the buildings, beach and the sea. Well worth a visit.

Wonderful place to meet friends, sit and watch the world go by or have a drink or a meal in nearby bars and restaurants.
The whole of the old town is lovely but spending time at the Quay or on the adjacent beach gives an opportunity to relax and wind down with a glorious view.
Enjoy!
