Cascais is an upscale community with good restaurants, lots of shopping and plenty of nearby sites to visit. At the foot of the downtown is a popular beach available for swimming and all types of water sports. We took an excellent tuk tuk tour of the surrounding area starting with a trip into the mountains adjacent to the town and then down to the coastline visiting the western most part of Europe and watching surfers sailing on the waves. FYI, the tuk tuk tour was given by Luisa of West Route Tours +351 918 641 746. We also recommend Santini's ice cream shop and the Soya Noodle House restaurant.

Cascais market situated in the centre of Cascais, has big space for parking except on Thursday, where there is fair outside the market, this day is to be avoided. The other days you can also have lunch or dine we tried the sea fish, which was not as we expected, not quite fresh as it should be. So one must be very careful while chosing. The market inside is worth a visit, never on Mondays, best would be Saturdays.

An impressive array of fresh fruits, vegetables, baked items, cheese...all at great prices. Went on a Wednesday morning and it's obviously a gathering place for locals. The day I was there, there were politicians out 'shaking hands and kissing babies', along with large groups of supporters. There's also a flea market outside which primarily sells clothing. Socks seemed like a real bargain...

I don't much care for the outside stalls but the inside with all the fresh produce is a feast for the eyes and your stomach. A huge amount of stalls selling all types of fruit and vegetables and all fresh. All the local producers come here on Wednesday and Saturday. I wish my town had a market like this.

Visited here today Wednesday at 11am. Walked for 30 minutes to get there and spent only 30 minutes there. Unless you want fruit and vegetables or sort through piles of clothes selling at 1e per item don't bother going here. . As someone else wrote buy a pack of socks at E5 and go elsewhere.

There is a farmer market every Wednesday and Saturday. The local produce are really fresh and the prices are reasonable. Bread, cheese, olives, etc also being sold here. There is also a fish market that sells fresh seafood and a butchery that sells meat. Restaurants with different kind of cuisine like sushi, seafood, spanish food, etc can be found here. We hat our dinner in one of the seafood restaurant and the food was really good. We also shopped fresh seafood and vegetables here on a Wednesday to cook in our apartment.

If you've spent any time in lisbon you've probably been to the timeout market, less of a market and more of a food hall.

This is very disappointed, beautiful produce at a great price

Well worth a visit if you're in cascais

Check out the fish market too for the freshest fish you've seen this side of catching it yourself

The central market in Cascais is worth a visit on Saturdays for the variety of produce & dry goods, and to view the lovely azulejos (Portuguese blue tiles) depicting agrarian and village scenes on the rounded market building's perimeter. But I've enjoyed the market most recently with friends at the special events held each month, featuring a foodie theme. The latest was the mercado do chocolat in early March, which featured chocolate producers from around Portugal, as well as local liqueurs and other complementary tasty bits. The food court offers tables to sit and enjoy what you've procured, as well as permanent food stalls to complement any food trucks or kiosks brought in for an event. Look for beer and wine festivals as 2017 continues. A great way to spend a weekend afternoon with friends!

This is a wonderful market in Cascais...we had the opportunity of visiting it 3 times during our stay...Saturdays/Wednesdays. Lots of fresh produce and fish. Everyone is very friendly and willing to assist. Afterwards stop in the outside cafe and have an espresso, beer or glass of wine and sample some of the local Portuguese foods.
