This is a beautiful beach where I often spent in my youth and also more recently. The sea is rough and dangerous but so revigorating thzt it is a pleasure. It is a shame that there is not a small wooden path going from the beach bars closer to the sea front. The distance is huge and walking on the sand can be very tiring

I learned how to suf with Pontoeste surfschool. Great experience. Qualified teachers and no crowds. Also try the stand up paddle tpours on teh canal and the Ria, the best ay to discover the area. www.pontoeste.com

Amazing beach with great beach bars, ( I love Maribar). It also has great waves and a surf school if you want some more adventure.

It takes you a pleasant 30 minutes ride to get from Ovaro via Fouradouro Beach to Torreira. Left hand the Aveiro river lagoon and on the right a stretch of newly built holiday homes. Why not stop by and enjoy the view of the marina or have an ice cream in one of the pleasant cafés? The dunes in Torreira are easily accessible by wooden pathways. At the main beach you find all amenities one can expect, and they are open even off season. And, yes, this is the Atlantic coast: It's windy, the sea is rough, and the clean wide sandy beach is all yours - at least mid of September and if you forget about the sea gulls.

After our lovely beach walk in Sao Jacinto, we drove further to visit the Beach of Torreira, who is located another 12 km in the direction of Aveiro, and this also on the coastal strip that separates the Ria of Aveiro from the ocean, besides all its natural beauty, Torreira also provides his visitors with good conditions for practicing surf and other nautical sports, but you are also able to simply enjoy a day at the calm waters of the river.
With an extension of many kilometres, the Torreira Beach becomes never too crowdie and has so always room for many visitors.
On its immense sandy area there are also good conditions for fishing, as you have to know that Torreira is a fisherman’s village which is confirmed by the lots of small and very colourfull boats that are usually there.
You also have a nice bike way running in parallel to the beach.
All this together makes us conclude that the Torreira Beach is a perfect combination of nature and the urban influence, where all is quite harmonized.

If you like windy and long beaches, Torreira is for you. Beautiful spot with nice and quiet atmosphere. Also the area is wonderful! I recommend a visit!

I did my research and everything said Torreira begins to be lively in May and continues through the summer. We showed up on May 27th to a ghost town. It is a lovely place, but is not conducive to travelers in the 'off season.' Literally homes have hurricane shutters closed and there are no restaurants open. I'm sure it's great when things open up! Google will say that things are open, but that is not accurate. We walked the entire town and couldn't find a single place to eat. Check dates and events before going! Don't mean to trash what is likely to be an awesome place in season. Just don't want people to have the same experience we did. :)

Very windy beach with a very rough and somewhat cold sea. However, it is one of the largest and sandy beaches in the whole country. Not recommended for those who like tropical climates but very good for most Europeans. Unfortunately, for party lovers Torreira has become a very quite place and nights end too early.

This beach doesn't get crowded, not even in nice weather during the weekends.
It can get very windy, it's good to have a windscreen for longer stays at the beach.
The ocean is good for swimming in low tide and mild wind, though a red flag is not uncommon. It's also a good uncrowded surf spot.
The surrounding area is very calming and you can take a walk in the sand dunes. It's a tranquil place!
There are also good seafood restaurants and bars near the beach.
