Walking around the University area you would have thought you were in the pages of a Harry Potter book. Uni students greeted our bus, dressed in the black cloaks selling pens/pencils to tourists to help fund their uni costs. The buildings of the various faculties...More

The university and its library are definitely worth a visit. The walk up starts taking you back in time. Our guide Gonçalo Lopes was very knowledgeable and filled with details about history.

Coimbra is an interesting town set on a beautiful bend in the river. High above its flowing waters, lays the university with its over sized buildings, almost communist architecture in places, and its stone walls that echo the values and learning that has been repeated...More

Grand buildings more like a palace on top of the hill in the heart of old town. Majestic to view especially in the afternoon sun. Lovely vista across the river. Thanks for the vote if you found this review helpful.

The rich traditions, a long history and a big influence on the overall history of Portugal make the visit worthwhile.

This is truly an inspiring place, the oldest university in Portugal. You should be there quite early in the morning if you want to see all. The Library has fixed entry times and there are plenty things to see around.

Hello! If you want to take the guided tour, or traveling with a big group you may book it in advance. If not you may take the ticket and visit the University at your convenience.
