At its height, the Roman outpost of Conimbrigna had a population of around 6,000. When our group visited, only 15 per cent of the ruins had been excavated. Although the site was large, it was exceptionally well laid out for appreciation of the private and public spaces, gravity-powered fountains, and mosaic floors – one depicting a hunting scene with dogs and mounted riders. The museum of items uncovered in the excavations was small but well-explicated.

A site with a lot to say about this major Roman Town which is now in the middle of farmland. Would be much improved by: 1) Having an Audio Guide to both the museum and the outdoor site. 2) Visitors being given a one page map with suggested route for the visit. 3) Placards and/or web images of what the site is believed to have looked like before it was destroyed. 4) More information on the economy of the town and the roads which connected it to other Roman settlements. NB: I didn't buy the EUR3.50 or EURO 10 booklets as I have no space to keep them. I would much prefer a good website and, perhaps, pdfs. And I'm happy to pay extra for an audioguide. I believe many other people feel the same.

My husband and I & another couple were traveling from Obidos to Porto and had only a few hours to spend in Coimbra. We had booked a tour with another company prior to our visit but the evening before the other company contacted me to let us know their English speaking guide got COVID and they would not be able to accommodate us. They suggested Go! Walks may be able to assist. I emailed Go! Walks right away and within a couple hours Sara texted me letting me know that her colleague Renan could provide us a tour. We are beyond delighted by Sara's quick and attentive response as well as arranging a tour with Renan. Renan was delightful, spirited and a very knowledgable guide. We appreciated his perspective as a student of the University and as native Brazilian, he enlightened us with historical stories and evolutionary tales of both Portugal and Brazil! Thank you both to Sara & Renan for making our short Coimbra visit one we will remember for years to come :)

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of taking a day tour through the charming Schist villages outside Coimbra with Sara and were delighted as we learned so much about this ancient region. As a native of Coimbra and all things Portugal, her love for this wonderful scenic region is unparalleled. Sara is patient, engaging, and a real story teller. The day simply flew by and we saw so much of the region, and the villages of Talasnal and Candal, topped off with an unforgettable lunch at O Burgo in Lousã. We would recommend taking this tour for anyone seeking to gain an appreciation of this off the beaten path area filled with charming villages and scenic vistas. Obrigado Sara for such a wonder tour!
