Aveiro center is small and cute. Easly visited in one morning or afternnon. It can be all walked.
Start from Train Station and walk by Rossio area where you find the Moliceiro boat tours for the ria and the historical neighborhood full of cute colored little houses and lots of restaurants and local handicrafts and sweets.
After you can have a look to the Forum - open mall and proceed to the church - Se catedral

We stopped in for a map and suggestions. Even though the town is small enough to cover in a half day we received some helpful tips.

We needed some information on the local bus times and the very helpful man in this welcome centre gave us the timetable for the bus route we wanted. Plenty of literature available and some interesting gifts and souvenirs (including a go-kart). We have found that Portuguese maps work in Portugal, but there are English and other versions if needed.

in center of town across from park. Very few English language items and map is not too helpful. Luckily always go downhill and you will run into a canal so you cannot get lost.

Very helpful, friendly tourist information here. They have maps and great suggestions of what to do on both sides of the canal. If you need help with orientation or to plan your day, these guys are very good.

This is the place to seek information about Aveiro Town. It's located right next to the river in a beautiful building.

Visited the Welcome Centre to find out what to see. The lady on the desk was very miserable and just handed us some leaflets. Think she must have been having a bad day. It's fairly easy to find most things in Aveiro though so we didn't miss much!

Located in a tile covered building, the Welcome Center is staffed by knowledgable people who directed us to the sites of Aveiro. The Art Neuvo buildings and the historical sites.

Lovely town. Went on the canal boats - had a great little tapas in the centre of the town and used it as a stop between Porto and Nazaré. The guides were very knowledgeable and passionate about their home town
