About
In the Oficina do Doce (The Sweet Workshop) you will have the opportunity of finding out about the history involving Ovos Moles and so many other convent-made sweets from Aveiro Region. Oficina do Doce is a learning space and shares historically faithful and representative of local reality. In our workshops you will be able to learn live, with a lot of energy, the most traditional way of making Ovos Moles. The most daring, these, will have the opportunity to experience their art as old-fashioned confectioners, filling and cutting those sweets with maritime designs. Products and Experiences genuinely Portuguese, prepared with care and diligence so that Portuguese and foreigners taste the best of Aveiro.

Somewhat disappointed
Jun 2021 • Family
I was disappointed we were unable to make our own ovos moles. I had booked specifically because it was my sons birthday and wanted him to relive the experience he had 9 years ago when we visited the same place and did the workshop. I do understand due to Covid19 we cannot participate in making our own but should I have been told this was the case I wouldn't have booked it. I also put in a special request to make my sons birthday special and there was absolutely no mention of this on the day. They could of offered a box of ovos moles as a special surprise as it was his birthday on the day we visited.

Oficina do Doce - Ovos Moles Baking Workshop
Aug 2019
► Almost every city in Portugal has its typical sweet pastry. Aveiro has the Ovos Moles, an egg yolk with sugar, sourced from an ancient women's monastery. Its shape is obtained by mixing eggs and sugar patiently and is prepared according to traditional knowledge. After the nuns disappeared, the recipe passed from generation to generation and is preserved to this day.
► I thought it would be nice to see how the pastry is made so I signed up on the website in advance.
► The workshop is located on the main street near the main canal.
Our group included our family and group of young and cheerful students visiting Portugal.
The cute guide told us in excellent English about the history of the pastry and made most of it in front of our eyes. She even let us help a little bit.
In the end, we tested one. We didn't really like it: too sweet, lots of filling in thin dough. Well... everyone and his own taste...
► The bottom line: Although we will never prepare Ovos Moles at home, the workshop itself was interesting, nice and funny!
