Aveiro Half-Day Tour from Porto Including Moliceiro River Cruise

78 reviews
Cruise the romantic waterways of Aveiro on this half-day tour from Porto. After a convenient pickup from your central Porto hotel, journey to Aveiro, where you’ll glide through its scenic canals in a traditional “moliceiro” boat and see how it earned the name “Venice of Portugal.” Admire the colorful tiled facades on the local Costa Nova buildings and learn about how this postcard-perfect village came to be from your guide. You’ll even get to try the “soft eggs,” a local dessert.

I loved this museum as much for the building that it is in as for the (small) display. There is a film that is worth sitting through which puts the exhibition into historical context. There is also a great little cafe that serves a wide selection of tea and cake.

Excellent museum with several great pieces! The building in itself reflects the "Arte Nova" style, and you can even see more buildings like it through the town. If you are in Aveiro you won't regret visiting it! Museu excelente com várias grandes peças! O edifício em si reflete o estilo "Arte Nova", e até se pode ver mais edifícios como este pela cidade. Se está em Aveiro não se vai arrepender!

Came on train from Porto for the day to see the Art Noveau. Museum is completely closed with no notices to say when it reopens either on the building or website (which doesn't even say that it's closed!). Google maps also implies that it is open by giving opening times! It will presumably reopen at some point but don't know how you can check if it is open before travelling. Building looks fab from the outside so hopefully the work will be finished soon. Rating is because a simple update on the website and a sign outside would be helpful.

Loved this place - tables scattered around the courtyard of an art nouveau style house, where as the sun sets they projected old black and white films on the walls and a chap played rather good saxophone to accompany our meal. NB the museum is closed in the evening, so you have to access the bar around the back, from the fish market entrance. Its worth it though, a really nice laid back place for a drink.

The building is a wonderful example of Art Nouveau, however there are almost no exhibits on show. One can watch a short film about the period and that's about it.
