A wonderful specimen of Portuguese tile tradition

In the city center, it is totally worth a visit. Not only is amazingly beautiful, it will also tell you a lot about Portuguese and Aveiro's history and traditions :)

A very beautiful and modern station with traditional portuguese azulejos but some of the bathrooms may not always be available, and that caused me some troubles when I used to go there daily. Other than that, very nice.

Old station still has azulejos on inside walls and on the outside. Fine example of typical Portuguese azulejos

The attractive old station is situated next to the new modern station. Lovely clean square where you can relax in the sun while waiting for a train. Not worth a trip of an hour and ten minutes from Porto just to see the station.

Apart from the main facade tile panels, there's not that much to see, especially when you don't know the language/culture to understand its etnographical value.

The tiles on the exterior are cool. Apart from the tiles, I think there not much to see.. Just a regular train station.

Finally the old trainstation is restored and fully functional. Besides being a modern trainstation it included the old facade with original blue tiles typical from the region. A must if in Aveiro.

Elevators to and from the street to the platforms, small café and tobacco/magazine shop inside. Tends to be very busy so make sure you get there in time to buy your tickets. A short walk from the centre of town.

In the main and central building, there are beautiful tiles depicting the landscapes of the region, the traditional costumes and the art of harvesting salt. Other than the old main building of the station, there's nothing else visit worthy. It's just another modern station with some shops (most of them empty) and a cafe in the underpass.
