About Sterna.pt
sterna.pt is a company dedicated to Nature Tourism and whose goal is to show the large biodiversity present in the Ria de Aveiro, from the Ria itself. This tour is only possible by navigating through the canals of this vast delta of the river Vouga. In order to minimize the impact in this sensitive ecosystem. In order to reduce the aforementioned environmental impact we chose non polluting, silent vessels without CO2 emissions and powered entirely by sunlight. Boat tours.

The husband -wife team are very friendly and make you feel at home for the duration of your experience. We took the 2-hour tour across the bends and curves of the Ria de Aveiro. Very peaceful and calm. Good insights into the history around the place. a nice light snack with typical "goodies" from the region. And all of this in quietness...smooth sailing. Very interesting experience. Don't miss it, as this is really worth it, a different way to look at the Ria, and Aveiro itself.

Sterna is a new nautical tourism and nature activity, run by Sandra Oliveira and classed as nº 1 of outdoor activities in Aveiro on Trip Advisor. We joined the Marshes Experience programme on the Aveiro Estuary with its unique natural beauty and biodiversity in their silent solar powered boat with a total of 10 people aboard. Sandra is the guide and Estevão is the skipper. Sandra gave us a very interesting and detailed description of the marshes, the birds, the salt mines and their history. We were treated to ovos moles and raivas together with a choice of beverages. The hosts created an excellent friendly atmosphere and were very well prepared and even had blankets in case we felt cold. The very few residents who live on the marshes came out to greet us and seemed to be very happy to see us. The boat is in great condition and very clean and comfortable. We were able to relax and live the moment by listening to the sound of the water as we glided through the canals with the waves lapping against the boat, lulling us to doze, breathing the pure fresh air and the gentle breeze on our faces and feeling like a tiny speck in this vast open space, watching the birds and the ripples on the surface. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience Sandra and Estevão!!

A wonderful journey through the Aveiro lagoon! Beautiful weather, beautiful company and a beautiful scenery to set up a great morning ride during low tide, where we enjoyed absolute silence on a solar powered boat, which let us really absorb the peacefulness of the surroundings. Due to low tide, we were also able to see many different species of birds, and it was a pity I didn't have a longer lense to photograph them. Will have to return to make that happen! With Sandra and the captain, we were guided through the waterways, and given somewhat of a history lesson , to cap off a great trip, through one of nature's finest!

I'm local, but live far away. What a great way to revisit and reconnect with my unique & breathtaking Ria and what a blessing for the soul. The solar powered boat is silent, making the ride all the more enjoyable without the rumble of a motor. Sandra and her partner made the trip very enjoyable, telling the history of the backwaters, the making of the salt and their people. A nice little piece of Portuguese history, if you're into it. If not, still the best way to "dive" into the waters, twists and turns of the one of a kind Ria de Aveiro 5* Helena

A breathtaking experience in the beautiful Aveiro lagoon. Sandra and Steven guided us through the salt panes and canals of the lagoon. Eco-friendly trip (the boat is powered by solar energy), by super-friendly people!
