Andy was a patient informative guide, answering all the questions we had (including my young millenial daughters) and providing a lot of the cultural background as well as island life experience. Despite the dicey weather a couple of days, Laura kept in touch and was able to adapt our plans to the weather conditions. She also made suggestions for alternative rain friendly activities.

We did the Furnas lake, Botanical Gardens and Hot Spring tour with Andy. First of all, Andy and Laura have put together a well thought out memorable day for their guests. Andy is an extremely talented and patient guide, a wealth of knowledge and a wonderful person to spend the day with. Our visit to the Furnas region exceeded our expectations. Soaking in the hot spring is so relaxing and puts you in a perfect state of mind to stroll through the garden afterwards. The Cozido lunch was very good with generous portions of food and wine. This is a very special tour with lots of surprises along the way, I would highly recommend putting it into your plans if you go to the Azores. Many thanks to Andy & Laura for providing this opportunity.

My fiancée and I recently returned from a 2 week trip to Sao Miguel, 10 days of which we organised through Azores Connections. I was a little apprehensive about booking through a company, as I usually like to research and plan everything myself, however, this wasn't possible this trip. That turned out to be a great thing though, as I really couldn't have hoped for anyone better than Andy and Laura to take the reins for us! Communication with Laura during the planning stages was excellent, and she organised a wonderful bespoke package for us, combining some of their more luxurious hotels, lots of activities, and plenty of time to relax too. She responded to all our messages and questions promptly and professionally to make sure our trip was just as we wanted it to be. Laura also picked us up from Ponta Delgada when we arrived late at night, and it was like being greeted by an old friend. This continued on both our excursions with Andy. They really did well at putting 2 quite shy, reserved travellers like us at ease...even though we responded to all the beautiful things Andy showed us with "ooh, this is quite nice." (We promise when we return we'll have learnt a few new adjectives, Andy!) It's clear how much pride Andy and Laura take in ensuring that people's trips go to plan, and even that their expectations are exceeded, with tour partners and hotels being carefully chosen to ensure a premium experience. They clearly know Sao Miguel inside out and love where they live, and this definitely comes across on the excursions that they lead themselves. We will definitely be returning to the Azores to explore some of the other islands, and we will be asking Andy and Laura for their help when we do. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend their services to anyone planning a trip!

My wife and I are NOT travelers. We have been married for 11 years, and this was only our second time leaving the United States. We were a little nervous about going somewhere with a local travel agent and not really knowing anything about them. Thankfully, we didn't let that stop us from going with Azores Connections. Laura and Andy were absolutely FANTASTIC! I was in contact with Laura frequently before the trip. She made sure that my wife and I were well prepared for everything on our trip. We knew what to pack, what to expect, and when to expect it. Laura planned everything in the perfect order so that we could best enjoy our experience. We booked the Adventure Package but requested adding a day of horseback riding. We stayed for a week (all on Sao Miguel), and we arrived at 6 AM after an overnight flight. Laura had our first day be completely free for us to relax, catch up after jet-lag, and explore Ponta Delgada. The next day, we eased into things with a relaxing guided tour from Andy that was perfect (more on that later). We then ramped up a bit more the following day by going whale watching and exploring at the Villa Franca islet. The next day was even more adventurous and independent with an ATV tour of Sete Cidades (still with a guide, of course). The following day was the most exciting and intimidating for us (but amazing, obviously) when we went canyoning in Nordeste. Transportation was included for all of those excursions. On our final day before we left, we rented a car and drove to Sete Cidades for a full day of horseback riding. It was nice and relaxing. Since we had already spent a week on the island traveling, seeing how the traffic rules work, and had even been to Sete Cidades before. That made us incredibly comfortable jumping in a car and driving around for a while. In between all of our days of adventuring, we always had plenty of free time in the evenings (usually got back around 5 PM) to have dinner and see the sights around Ponta Delgada. I cannot say enough about how carefully Laura planned that for us and tailored everything so that we felt as comfortable and confident as possible! Back to that guided tour with Andy. He was spectacular! Since Andy knew all of our itinerary, he was able to make sure he took us only to see places and things on the island that we would not otherwise have a chance to experience. He also took into account the weather to ensure we visited sites at the best viewing times. It was very informal and fun. Andy just talked with us, gave us history and backstory where we were interested, and got to know us. He also did a great job of reading us to figure out where we might want to linger a little longer. For us, that was the beach, as we were not going to see it again on our trip, and we come from a very land-locked part of the US. Andy was very personable and we loved spending the day with him. Given more time, we would gladly have spent a few more days exploring with him. Our only regret was that we did not get a chance to meet Laura in person. We would have loved to meet her (and their son) for a meal during our trip. That is quite literally the ONLY thing we would have changed, though :) If you are thinking about visiting the Azores, talk to Azores Connections. Thanks for the wonderful memories and amazing adventure Laura and Andy!
