We passed by this Church all the days moving from the center to our guest house. It was closed all the time, but before departure we managed to go there after all.The Church is more interesting inside than outside. The Church of St. Peter was built in the XVII century on the site of the old Church of the XV century. However, the Church itself and the bell tower were partially destroyed in 1681. It was restored naturally in the style of the then dominant Baroque.

A nice church with a baroque interior filled with typical portuguese gilded woodcarvings. The view from the outside is quite nice too.

Nearby the hotels, some good restaurants as S. Pedro, and the port, this is another example of the churches that the Portuguese built during the Discoveries. Worth a visit.

From the cruise terminal, you have to climb a bit to visit, but the views outside and the church itself will reward your efforts.

It doesn't look too impressive from the outside but, the interior is a different story. It's one of the nicer churches on the island. A nice stop if you are strolling around Ponta Delgada but, I wouldn't go too far out of the way to visit.

Only walked around the outside of this building but it was nice. The grounds are very well kept and have some lovely birds in the shrubs as well. There is also the most amazing view as its on a really high point.

This is one of the 3 parish churches n Punta Delgada and it has a high bell tower. Because it sits higher up in the city, it has an excellent view of the harbor below.
I love visiting any church.

Right across from the cruise port conveniently located for a quick visit. Small but still beautiful.

What a beautiful little church on the hill overlooking the harbor. Free admission and well worth taking time to check it out

In our trip with p&o Britannia we walked around after our tour.
It's really close to the pier and beautiful inside and out.
