We toured Sao Miguel with Lisa this week. She is both knowledgeable and professional, and fun to travel with.
We toured some of this beautiful island’s most popular sights on a private tour.

This was a fantastic experience all around. We were delayed leaving NYC due to bad weather, and had limited Wifi. I managed to email Mario and found out that he was monitoring our arrival and managed to change our tour times for us.
Our Driver Ruben met us at the cruise terminal and our tour commenced. What a superb tour of the Island. He was informative and nothing was too much trouble. A great day! I would highly recommend Azores Guided Tours to anyone.

One day stop on cruise ship. Had done the "crater" tour the year before so wanted something different. Mario was great to work with and ended up picking private tour that included Furnas and tea plantation. Miguel was a fantastic driver/guide. Seeing the entire tea industry from growing to picking, processing and packaging was extremely interesting; but the highlight was Furnas. Saw the process for cooking in volcanic caldrons and then ate the results at Tony's Restaurante (highly recommended). Add in well narrated tour of multiple other points as we toured the island and it made for an overall very memorable day. To give you an extra idea about how good these people are, forgetful me left a pair of glasses in the van. When I got back on the ship I received and email from Mario that Miguel had found the glasses and taken the extra effort to bring them back to ship security where I picked them up. Talk about over and above!! We used the same company last year for the crater tour and they were equally impressive. I give them highest marks. One final thought. Four people in a private van costs less than four seats on a 50 passenger tour bus -- and difference in quality is incredible.

It's taken me months to write this review but we had such a great experience, I couldn't let a positive review go unwritten. Mario Rosa took our family around the island for a personal guided tour when we had some time stopping in the Azores on a Disney Cruise this past September 2016. He was courteous, professional, very informative and you could tell that he loved what he did. He was timely in getting us from place to place and was full of information. It was by far the best excursion during our cruise experience and we found few other tour guides who really educated you on the location and gave you a "true tour". Thank you for the great experience, Mario!

We booked a private tour with Mario at Azores Guided Tours. We were a group of 6 travelling on a transatlantic cruise and had planned to spend an entire day with Mario, but sadly bad weather was in the forecast and the Captain asked everyone to be back on board 4 hours earlier. Mario quickly adjusted our planned tour and quickly took us away in a beautiful Mercedes van. The ride through the hillsides was stunning despite the rain and fog. Mario was full of information that he shared during our drives, which gave us a very good appreciation for the history and culture of the Azores. Wish we could have had the whole day, but very happy of our time with Mario. Now we just need to go back!!

We visited Ponta Delgado by cruise ship. Mario, our tour guide, picked us up right at the cruise terminal, and every minute of the tour was wonderful. Mario was an excellent guide. We were a group of 6. The Van was very comfortable & he used a speaker system so that even sitting in the back you could clearly hear everything he had to say. We had opted for a half day tour out to Sete Cidades one of the most beautiful spots on the Island of Sao Miguel. The ride out and the stops Mario made for pictures really gave us a good overview of this beautiful island as well as his sharing interesting stories of what we were looking at. We got to stretch our legs & enjoy a coffee in a small cafe in Sete Cidades village. There is also a beautiful church in the village, Church of Saint Nicholas, that is worth visiting and is very photogenic. We had opted for this half day tour so that we could spend some time in the town of Ponta Delgado as well, before we had to get back to the ship. Mario provided us with a recommended restaurant to have lunch & his recommendation was wonderful. I highly recommend taking Mario's tour whenever you visit the Island. You can be sure we will - to see the rest of the Island on our next visit.

We had one day tour with guide Mario from Azores Guided Tours.
He is a great tour guide, with fluent English. He perfectly knows the history and also knows how to present the island attractions.
The lunch in the restaurant he brought us, was the best we had on the island.
I strongly recommend this tour for everybody who wants to learn the history of the Azores island, about local habits and its culture.

Although our day was pretty much fogged in, we continued with the tour and we learned so much from our driver, Tiago. We visited a small pineapple farm that was interesting and educational. Some views lower on the island were stunning and the history of this island is worth the tour…sun, rain or fog!

Does your company provide a guided tour of all nine islands including Graciosa, which is the island from which my great grandfather immigrated. Does any local company provide this service? Our vacation could be for approximately two weeks. We are interested in the history, culture, cuisine and natural beauty of the islands.
