I didn't see any indication ahead of time but the entire complex is closed up tight, with construction going on the road down to the spa. You can walk but the amenities are really pretty disgusting at this point.

We came to swim in outdoor tide pool. But even after checking tides we somehow still missed low tide by four hours. So instead we opted to pay for the Thermal outdoor pool. So disappointing. Has so much potential! Change rooms and ‘hot shower’ area is so grungy. And pool while warm has no view at all. Just concrete walls. Nothing seems taken care of. The potential is there to be an amazing place could be a hot pool with a beautiful sea view, too bad. Won’t be back except to swim one day in the free tide pool down the path. Which was beautiful.

The outside thermal pool is ok but nothing compared to the beautiful baths in Furnas. There are no views to the ocean from the spa pool. The inside spa is so unpleasant you want to get out as soon as you get in. There are signs of thick mould on the ceilings, the water in the inside thermal pool looks dirty, everything is dark, there's a strange smell in the Turkish sauna and the Finnish sauna was not hot enough neither was there water to throw on the stones to steam it up. The boy in the reception had no idea about any of the massages and couldn't answer any questions until his colleague came to our rescue. We also booked massages and until now I'm not sure about my hot stone massage which was very strange, but my partner said her "general massage" done by Nuno was one of the best she's ever had. I think Nuno is probably the only reason to go to that spa, otherwise one would have way more fun in the outdoor natural pool. Not worth the 170 euros.

Unique! Quite an expirience to take a 35 degrees hot Bath in the Ocean, surronded by vulcanic rocks , black environement, something to recall when ever return to S. Miguel in the Azores Island!

The place is not bad but nothing special. We have visited the place in summer so 19 degrees in high tide was not really hot, even in low tide having 24 degrees is far away of being a hot spring. The pool in the ocean was narrow and crowded but it is a nice experience to have. Worth to visit after Cete Cidades as it is close.

Tre place is located beuatifully, the thermal baths is hot, the food is nice. But the Spa area is a little dirty, there where cocroaches wandering about. We made an appointment for massage but they where late and understaffed. And they expect you to pay everything in cash, only locals can use creditcards, no international cards accepted, we had planned a more expensive massage treatment, but simply didnt have that much cash with us.

The place is old and dirty. The girl at the reception was extremely impolite and rude. A place nobody should ever visit unless they want a horrible experience.

We had a great trip to Sao Miguel and Terceira. The islands are beautiful, people are friendly and the food is delicious and inexpensive. We rented a car on both island and preferred Autatlantis to Hertz.

The pool is at the bottom of a steep winding road, there is plenty of parking spaces, we did not fancy going into the sea at it was a bit cool, so we went into the outdoor thermal pool cost 6 Euros each you pay at the bar, they have changing rooms and hot showers, very refreshing after a day of walking, sun beds around the pool.
The pool water is rusty brown colour and could stain swimming costumes the pool is a little dated but still enjoyable.

At the seaside in Ferraria, at Termas da Ferraria, there's a natural pool where hot water from underground mixes with cold water coming in from the sea, to create a natural hot water pool. Access to this pool is free, and there are showers and changing rooms, as well as a snack/gift shop on the way down to the sea. Once you get down there, you climb down into a natural “inlet” from the sea with ladders, and because of the undercurrents, there are several horizontal ropes you can hang onto. Be prepared to enter VERY hot water, surprisingly so! You can’t even really stay there too long, because of the heat — but the time you do spend is definitely an interesting experience...

There's also a spa and private pools, but you'll have to pay to go to those.

After a dip in the hot water pools, if you have a few minutes to spare, you can briefly visit the Ferraria lighthouse. Nothing too special about this lighthouse; you can just see it from the outside, not enter and visit. There’s also nowhere to park when you reach it at the end of a narrow street — there’s barely enough room to turn the car around, especially if there’s another car there as well...
