We went in February when there are more clouds, so we didn’t get a chance to see the different coloured waters the blue and green lakes are famous for. Still, the place is amazing and no photo can do it justice. View from Boca do...More

This place is nothing short of breathtaking when you see it in person! Make sure you go on a clear day to see the two colors of the lakes.

We came by car from Punta Delgada, simple on a fine road. Took the good advice of passing the road to the lake, to proceed to the Vista do Rei a couple of kilometers further on. Spectacular view, as all the pictures testify to. We...More

We caught the public bus from town, scenic drive along the coast, and then walked around the craters 12km ish. Amazing views. We then hitched a lift back to Sete Cidades to catch the bus back to Ponta Delgada. Well worth the journey. Good cafes...More

We went here the day before, when it was completely foggy, as is usually the case here. But luckily we could see this place in the light of the sun.

Bad weather meant that we didn't get a postcard-worthy photo, and it was hard to discern the blue from the green, but after standing there long enough and the sun peeking through, you could see it.

We were there in November and had no problem with accessing trails. Seasonal weather may have changed that, check with Tourism Azores, they are very current and knowledgeable .
