Beautiful view once we could get to the viewpoint. I have never seen such a traffic cluster mess in my life. Bus's, cabs, tour companies and rental cars in one big jam. Everyone just parking in the middle of the road and getting out to...More

Simply a must do on Sao Miguel, the view of the lakes is incredible and the trail surrounding the lakes is awe inspiring. It's amazing to simply walk on one side of the lake and one side of the Atlantic Ocean. Do however bring lunch...More

I was amazed to be walking there and experiencing two lakes with different color water. Azores is a beautiful archipelago to visit and has many beaches to explore and enjoy, though it is strange to be surrounded by black volcanic rock as you swim. I...More

This was an ok stop. The boca do inferno viewpoint was nice; but visiting the actual lakes wasn’t really that interesting or compelling. The difference in water color was minimal - they looked like different shades of green to us. We enjoyed Lagoa do Fogo...More

One of the islands "crater" lakes.A must see while here. Try to go on a day when fog appears to be minimal. Actually the whole island is beautiful and a must see.

The views are spectacular. Having your own car is recommended because you have freedom to go where you want and stay as long as you like. We backtracked at times to adjust to the weather changes on the days that we visited.

We were there in November and had no problem with accessing trails. Seasonal weather may have changed that, check with Tourism Azores, they are very current and knowledgeable .
