Lovely and not difficult walk around the paths and mills, which are being restored. There is a tourist shop near the entrance and toilets/drinks. If you like plants, you will enjoy it. Make sure you explore all paths as you could be missing out. We went at the start of August and there was low flow on the waterfalls etc,... More

We stopped off at this attraction when we drove around the island. It was fairly easy to find and there was sufficient parking. It is only a short walk from the car park to the waterfall, which is an amazing scene. There is a walkway up to the waterfall and some paths to the side if you want a closer... More

Parque Natural da Ribeira dos Caldeiroes lays opposite of teh Achada waterfall . What struck us is how very precious Sao Miguel locals treat their beautiful island . Parque Natural da Ribeira dos Caldeiroes is something worth while visiting . The path below leads to a waterfall, a view below to the river and to a place where you can... More

Very nice place to stop and admire several waterfalls in a spectacular valley. There are also historic water mills, a shop and toilets

We found this place entirely by accident. Having been soaked to the skin the previous day walking on the south coast we decide to explore the north coast road and found the Parque. What we thought would be a 10 minute pit stop became 3 hours of gentle exploration of the paths, the waterfall, the watermills, gift shop and picnic... More

This was another hard to find spot on the island. Not sure why but our mapping app was a bit confused- but we found it anyway! We visited on 2 different occasions and both times there were perhaps 2 or 3 other people there. It is breath taking. Incredibly green with beautiful water falls and a small stream. The ferns... This place is excelent to take a walk in the nature. Not very crowed and with perfect places for nice photos. You can relax and take a break for a picnic also. We loved it!

this small park is sooo nice and well maintained. i liked the watermill houses, but it would be so much better if the insides were awailable for the visitors and if there were actuall some presentations of the mill life back in the day. the park is very much artificial in the lover part, but we were sad to discover... What a great find. This park, with the gorgeous Achada waterfalls (one of a few here), the walking trails, the waterwheel and a setting that will inspire you to stay quite a while, is a must see on San Miguel. It's easy to get about (with limited wheelchair access due to the various elevations) and fun for the entire family.
