Fogo Lake is absolutely beautiful. It's so rare to see a place that is completely wild and untouched by people. It's both the smallest and youngest volcano on the island, but seeing it is hugely reliant on the weather. The best views are from above,...More

Beautiful Lake and best geographic monument on Sao Miguel. Don't forget your solid shoes and walk down to have amazing views, but it's not an easy hiking trail.

The island offers so much beautiful landscapes and views, but to be on the rim of a volcano is something else entirely. Stunning, Careful on the winding roads up

I don't believe there is public transport to the mountain. We rented a vehicle and drove to the top(rim) and then hiked down. I did notice several couples coming from the bottom and hiking up as we were going down. There are... More

There is a paved road going to the top of the hill overlooking the lake, but I really would not see it as a hiking area. You would want to take a vehicle to the top. Once there, you will find plenty of easy places to walk... More
