Great views. Be aware of a berry steep down and up part in the beginning of the track at the northern viewpoint. Great experience.

Chose to drive past this stunning lake on the way back to Furnas. Was my favourite drive as a love the windy mountain roads and the view was awesome.

My boyfriend and I both agree that this was our favorite stop on the island. We parked the car and hiked down on a nice sunny day. The hike down took roughly 10-15 minutes and was fairly easy. Once we got down we walked around...More

Four years later and after multiple knee injuries, I finally did the hike to Lagoa do Fogo (Fire Lagoon) using the shortest route! The area is still the most beautiful spot in São Miguel to us (husband and me). The hike starts at the first...More

In São Miguel island there are several great spots to view. This is one of the must go. The landscape, the colours and the contrast with the see is breathtaking. Be advised that is very often (almost daily) to have intense fog and its impossible...More

We wanted to do the long hike in here and thought it might be easy to find the trail head by car. Not so. We ended up pulling over and finding reference to the WalkMe app, which gave us directions both to be trailhead and...More

I don't believe there is public transport to the mountain. We rented a vehicle and drove to the top(rim) and then hiked down. I did notice several couples coming from the bottom and hiking up as we were going down. There are... More

There is a paved road going to the top of the hill overlooking the lake, but I really would not see it as a hiking area. You would want to take a vehicle to the top. Once there, you will find plenty of easy places to walk... More
