I stayed on the viewpoint and admired the place with a snack in peace. The only thing I could hear was the wind....View is great to all kind of directions and it was my lucky day to see far away since it was a clear and sunny day!

most beautiful faja! you have to walk quiete a lot down if you want to swim in that gorgeous natural pool. dont mix it up with the rather dirty pool a little further down!

While you get a birds-eye view of this charming "fajã" from this look-out, you will get so much more if you descend and visit it. Its only about a 25 minute hike down and a 5 minute drive. While down there be sure to visit the Simão Dias pool.

One of the best photo ops on the island of Sao Jorge is this scenic viewpoint (miradouro in Portuguese). The fajas are lava flows that people have built houses on, and this is one of the most spectacular in the Azores.

After arriving at Norte Grande, follow the signs for Fajã do Ouvidor. At a crossroads, go a 100 meters or so and you will see the miradouro with a large parking area.
This gives you the most breathtaking complete view of the fajã, and shows you truly how unique this geographical formation is.
The descent is not difficult, only be careful of loose sandamd leaves especially if they are wet.
In the summer, bring your swimwear, because there is beautiful natural swimming pool where Fajã do Ouvidor meets the ocean.
After returning to the top, you can also visit the nearby Casa do Parque museum.

The Azores islands are fortunately not touristy, nature is the master, green mountains, lakes, small villages, grazing cows, hydrangeas blooming everywhere, pineapple palms and bananas all with the blue ocean background.
