I had the most wonderful whale watching experience with Peter! The staff was very professional, punctual and full of informations, always ready to answer questions. We were very lucky to have great weather, and we spotted couple of sperm whales and the blue one which was my childhood dream! it was definitely a good choice and great service. Big thanks to Duarte and his team! See you again :)

A great morning whale watch. We saw both sperm whales as well as many beautiful common dolphins. Raquel was very helpful in making the arrangements as well as being a very informative guide.

Would definitely recommend.

Nice trip despite a cloudy afternoon, in the beginning.
We managed to see sperm whales and dolphins. It was very exciting and our guide Rachel was very nice and explained so many things.
Totally recommended.

I'll be upfront and tell you that I didn't use Peter's services. It seems a fair chunk of Horta's tourist attractions are owned by the family (famous sports bar, ice cream shop, scrimshaw museum et al), and I didn't warm to the egotistical blurb outside their premises. Besides, Peters is the only whaling company that uses a traditional larger boat rather than the open rigid and smaller inflatable the other operators use. Yes, you might get a bit wet on an inflatable, but there are waterproof available and you get a much better open sea level view. The more responsive engines are also more fun.

We were with another inflatable watching some dolphins of a species that are rather shy, when we spotted Peter's noisy boat arriving far too fast. "this will be a demonstration of how you shouldn't do it" said our guide. Sure enough the speed of the boat, its noise and force through the water, scattered the dolphins, although they did regroup after a while. While the two original boats kept a respectful distance of perhaps 20-30 feet, Peter's waded on in there until they were perhaps 6 foot away from the dolphins, whereby they started showing signs of distress and upset, by flapping their flippers on the water.

Our guide apologised and said he would have to withdraw from the spot given their obvious distress. While I cannot discount that this episode may have been a one-off, it left me feeling that Peters was not a responsible or respectful operation and that overall anyone on the boat would have less chance of enjoying the wildlife they had come to see. Given the tour are not cheap (we paid 55 Euros or so) that would be a shame, and on my experience I can only recommend you pop on your borrowed waterproof and get down and personal with the creatures of the sea while being respectful of their habitat. It did not feel that Peter's were the operation that could facilitate this.

Ana, our guide, immediately connected with the group and introduced us to the secrets of the whale and dolphin worlds.
Later the unique lookout guided whale watching ecosystem brought the best possible experience

Thanks for your review! We are glad you had a good time with us and our team. Definitely, our lookouts are one of the most important part for the whale watching, without them the activity in the Azores would not be the same. If you come back to Faial don’t hesitate to contact us for anything you need. Thanks again and we are looking forward to see you soon! Kind regards from Whale watching Peter team.

We did a trip with this company this week. They were super kind to us (we were a few minutes late due to the delay of the boat that arrives from Pico in the morning). We were able to go on the boat and sea two male sperm whales. On the way back we found hundreds of cory's shearwaters. Thanks for everything Rita, Ana, Julia and Miguel, you were very nice.

It was amazing, I truly recommend this tour, we saw a blue whale, a huge group/family of dolphins, it was really awesome.
The tour guide, Rita, she is really enthusiastic and really makes the tour more dynamic. I would definitely do it again.

A marine biologist gave us an introduction before we went to sea. There was initially some doubt around the weather and the rough sea but there were whales spotted in the area so we were sure to see whales. After about an hour at sea (rough indeed, and some got sick) we finally spotted a first 'blow' and rushed to the site. Severall sperm whales were spotted and the typical 'tail' was part of the adventure. Also dozens of dolphins escorted our boat for quite a while.

Nice boat with roof and seats, but with enough room to move around and take pictures. Friendly and enthusiastic people.

I booked a package with them-
a private room in central Horta, airport transfer and several whale watching tours.
Everyone at Base Peter Zee was helpful and during their tours there was always a marine biologist on the boat, who gave many background information about the whales and other marine wildlife we saw.
As they use ( in contrast to the other whale watching-enterprises) a catamaran, you can move freely while taking photos of whales, dolphins, Mantas, turtles and other animals (and for those who need it, there's a toilet on board as well!)

Rented a bike from them as well, got suggestions for where to go, which road to take, where to stop etc.

Can't recommend them enough!
