One can drive to the start of a short hike up to the top of what was once a very active volcano or you can also take a taxi. Some hikers like to start at the marina and walk the whole way which takes a...More

Well worth the drive up - fantastic views of the caldera and Faial - also over to Pico. Walking trails run from the parking lot.

The crater is freaking amazing, and also has a volcano in it at the bottom. Very lovely hike--a little tough in areas but worth every step!
