This museum is over three floors with archaeological finds from over the centuries. There is also access to a small section of the town walls to get some views across the town and valley. The main attraction for me was the deep well in the centre of the museum and then the wall plan explaining how the town survived because of the well and water from the river.

Small museum. Bought combined tickets with the castle for the adults and the kids tickets just needed topping up. Wasn't expecting that much given some of the reviews but spent more time here than in the more noted castle. So many exhibits and details re the area's history. Lady on the desk was pleasant enough. Lots to see for those interested in archaeology.

This is impressive, well organized and planned. On 3 levels that progress in time from the Iron Age (6th Century to today). The well was only discovered in 1990. I was pleasantly surprised and not bored, well done!

Really rude woman at the desk when we dropped in to inquire about tickets to the museum and castle combined. We left feeling bewildered and wondering what we had done to offend her. Never saw the museum.

Well laid out with interesting artifacts and good write-ups. Parallel English translations meant that I could understand the exhibits. The pottery is very impressive.
This is a push-chair friendly venue.

The Municipal Museum contains a cistern well, dating back to Moorish times (11th century) as it's centrepiece. But it also has collections of archaeological finds from throughout the area of Silves, including a collection of Moorish ceramics from digs at the castle. At the back of the museum is a section of the city wall.
This is a recently built modern museum with lots of interesting artefacts. The only drawback is the lack of English information - a great shame.
Recommended as part of a dual ticket with the Castle.

Only a 5 minute stroll down the hill from the castle. there are many interesting exhibits which chart the towns history and it is well laid out on three floors. there is a lift for disabled access and the information is dual language which was good. Worth a visit.

My husband and I visited here this week. It was lovely day out. We went to Silves Castle and Museum . Bought a combined ticket for both. Very reasonable , if I remember correctly, less than 10 euro for both of us to enter both.

worth a visit and a tour down the well, as well as on to the roof top, very helpful staff and if you buy a combined ticket for the castle you get free wine tasting in the square!
