We went for a couples afternoons wine tasting, tour and a platter. We were early and wanted to start the tasting which was no problem for us and another couple. The winery filled up quickly and we went on a short tour with many people from various nationalities.
The host spoke perfect English and was very warm and welcoming. We had a cheese and meat platter after the tour with a bottle of excellent Chardonnay to accompany it.
What I liked was we got an Uber from Jupiter Marina for 11 euros and had no issues getting one back to the hotel with only a 9 minute wait, if we were to do this as a tasting tour it would have cost over 100 euros but with our transport, tasting, lunch and a bottle of Chardonnay it only cost us about 66 euros which was a bargain.
Great winery with informative and very welcoming staff.

An absolute holiday highlight. I love vineyards and wine tasting but coming with a young family I opted to email on the day for just some tasting and tapas not a full tour. The response and communication from the start was amazing and so accommodating. From the moment we arrived and settled into the terrace area we were all so happy relaxed and in awe of the beautiful views. 2 children relaxed colouring in and sipping soft drinks whilst the adults shared a 9 wine taster and tapas and it was all described so well with no rush and the entire experience was just fantastic. I ended up buying a few wines to take home as couldn’t resist. Our guide Miriam was wonderful and so patient and knowledgeable we couldn’t thank her enough for such a memorable experience.

Picked up by Bruno in small mini van with two other couples.and first he droped us off at silves historical town.a fort we went and had a look for 30 mins.
Then on to the winery and he was telling us on the way history of the area which was very intresting.
When we got to the winery he ecplained the making of the wines.where they were kept in barrels .the barrels were made of oak.diffrences how red /white/rose were made.
Then we had tasters sitting outside we had 3 wines.then they offered us other wines to try and you had to pay for them.some were nicer then others .but each to there own taste .we enjoyed our morning very much and learnt a lot about wine making .
Bruno droped us off back to hotel.we wasnt given chesse salamis and dry buscuits wine the wines.

The place is nice but the wine tour is not worth as for the 8.50 you get the most basic wines with grapes not from the wine estate. You need to upgrade to taste an average wine. Even the Quinta do Frances white wine is not so good to be honest. Finally we were supposed to pay 13.5 eur for the full degustation but we paid 17 eur, I am still wondering why…

Whilst looking for something different to do in and around the Lagos area, my wife spotted something about wine tours. "let's do that" she said. So we looked into it and booked a trip up to Quinta do Frances for a tour and tasting. The lovely Tania took very good care of us and took us around the facility and explained lots of very interesting facts about growing different grapes, the harvest and of course the wine. This was followed by a tasting of various wines all of which were very good. We left with 15 bottles for our wine rack and a new found knowledge on the making of wine. I would recommend Quinta Do Frances to any wine lover.

Fantastic & educational wine tour. Had a wonderful and personable guide who showed us the processes of the winery as well as sharing some great stories of their experience. The wine was also spectacular, no wonder it is award winning.

Booked as a couple direct with the vineyard. Had an interesting tour with Fatima, the owner, who was really helpful. Had three wines to taste, with the snacks (and accommodated our not wanting the cheese with good humour!). Overall very good value, bought a couple of bottles to enjoy. Much better value than going on an organised tour. Lovely way to spend a couple of hours.

Very friendly staff-
Very informative tour learnt a lot about the wine making process plus tasted some really fine wines, the Red being in our opinion the best one although the Sauvignon came a close second.
Winery in a lovely location just outside Silves. They gave me a Free bottle of the Red as it was my birthday.
Thank you guy’s.

This was a wonderful wine tasting, which was part of a day tour. All the wines were delicious, even those I was not sure I would like before tasting, and the gentleman talking us through the tasting was knowledgable and pleasant. The setting with the views is stunning. I'm looking forward to trying the wine I bought in the shop after the tasting and reliving the experience!

Quinta do Francês, a family run winery in the Algarve backcountry has a nice wine tour of the winery with the wine making area, oak barrel room and wine tasting bar with shop. The outdoor terrace is great for unwinding at the end. We tasted the white Encostas de Odelouca, rose and red plus the top Reds. Great wine tour!

Will you be open in June? How long would we be there for a wine tasting visit?
Written May 21, 2021
No, you can go into the vineyard for free but you only need pay for the tour with wine tasting. There's a lovely little shop with some memorabilia about the vineyard etc.

Hello! How can we get to the winery from Silves (if we haven't got a car)?
Looking forward for your answer.
Written June 22, 2016
We've just got back from staying in Silves and got a taxi from opposite the information centre to visit the winery. It cost us roughly €15 each way and the staff at the winery were kind enough to call for a taxi to take us back when we were ready to leave.
