Beautiful beach with fine sand. The 1st kayaking experience made it even more memorable.
Very easy to reach by foot from Baleeira port.

Nice beach, feels natural and not touristy or cluttered with tourist junk. Recommended, clean and unfussy.

Never crowded with amazing views. A beach that has so many happy memories for all family. A magical place that I always look forward to revisiting.

Kids really had fun going in the water here - although it is always cold water (70s). It is much more than just surf and sand.

This is a lovely beach, and wasn't very busy when we were there in June. Very nice sand, and a nice long beach, perfect for lengthy strolls. There are also some interested rock formations at the end, if you tire of looking out over the sea. We didn't go for a swim -- the water felt cool enough, even in late June.

the view from the cliffs atop Martinhal Beach are lovely. The walk down to the beach has many steps and would be difficult for many people. the beach area is small but very protected.

This amazing white sand, long, wide beach is really close to Sagres and has a surprisingly cheap beach bar for having food and drinks. The sea is very calm here and ideal for families with kids. Worthwhile visiting when in Sagres!

Visited here August 2016 on family holiday. Beach is around 500m of lovely sand and quite deep so plenty of space for everyone. Lots of watersports including windsurfing (the beach can attract quite a strong wind at times although we experienced this only 2 days out of 12 that we were there). Sea is crystal clear and great for kids who like to body board. There can be quite a strong current at times so makes sense to stay within the life-graded zone.

Beautiful beach but no protection from the wind. I was looking for a place to train and this is by far the best and safest place. You can swim up the coast for about 1.5km and you're always close to shore and you can get out of the water and find a foot path if necessary (compared to most other spots in Sagres where its just sheer cliff face). The water is clean, lots of fish, lots of paths through the rocks, feels like your swimming on the set of pirates of the caribbean.

I reviewed the wrong beach. Oops.
I have not been to this one; everything I said applies to Mareta beach.

I was thinking of a family holiday at Martinhal Beach Resort. I am a interested to know how far the best surfing beaches are and how easy it is to get to them.
Thanks

When I was there, I saw that even the resort has a rental shop on the beach, though I never saw someone surfing. There are a lot of other beaches nearby, I bet it is easier if you have a car.
