Rented amazing mountain bikes and covered tons of ground to check out all the beautiful beaches of sagres and the coast line. Shop ran by very friendly gentleman with perfect English. We’ll be back to rent surfboards 👍

I have never dealt with a shop that made bike rental such a hassle. It was like signing a mortgage. They insisted I define my rental time even though I wanted flexibility to turn it in the following night or the next morning bc I still needed to figure out travel plans and bus schedules. They swore I was the only backpacker they had ever met with undefined plans and afforded me no flexibility. Then when I returned, the second day, the owner thought of every way possible to charge more money, even though the girl I had dealt with was ready to let me go, the owner consulted their ridiculously convoluted price table and found a way to make me owe more money. She said I should have called the night before to t them I was bringing it back the next day even though this was exactly the time frame I asked for from the start and I have no phone service here- they could not get their heads around a return window of 12 hours instead of an exact return time. Seeing I was unhappy, the owner asked me for feedback, and rather than receiving the feedback, kept defending her position and saying I had no respect for her business model. I told her she was overcomplicating everything and making it stressful for both herself and the traveller, and that in other countries, there r no reservations, just pick the bike up, pay a deposit, and pay for the total time when you return the bike. Her reply was that she doesn’t care how others do it, only how she does it. So why ask for feedback if rather than being willing to listen and learn, you just want to yell more at the client? Was an overcomplicated, inflexible, and unfriendly experience from start to finish, I felt like I was talking to someone that had no understanding of abstract concepts and no ability to empathize with client. When I travel I want to relax a bit and not be so tied to schedules and clocks. If you r different and love having a strict itinerary, this place won’t be so annoying, but for me there was no room for flexibility or spontaneity and was a total buzz kill dealing w their rigidity.

We've booked a couple of bikes at Maretta on our way to Capo de Vicente. The shop owners were really nice people. Rental price is moderate. The road to the lighthouse was absolutely smooth and we enjoyed it. Thanks!

We hired Mountain bikes for the day to do a 30km ride along the coast to Vila de Bispo and back to Sagres. Bikes were in excellent condition, all checked by staff at the time of hire and seats adjusted. We also hired helmets €2 each, and the staff provided a map to follow, a puncture repair kit and a contact mobile number if we needed assistance. We requested a ride that avoided main roads and not too many hill climbs if possible, they cannot be avoided entirely but the majority was on dirt tracks and the road from Vila de Bispo back was the old highway, mostly running parallel to the new one and no traffic to contend with till the last 2kms back to the shop. Highly recommend hiring from the friendly staff, they also do surfboards, and have some good surf gear in the shop to tempt you :) Only thing that could make the bikes better would be a water bottle carrier on the frame, it’s possible the bottle would shake itself out on some of the tracks!
