Great views of the region from on top of the highest point in the Algarve. Go through Monchique and then follow the road as it winds up the mountain side. You get some amazing views. Near the top is a small picnic spot with several tables and parking for about 20 cars. The slopes are covered in heather and you get some wonderful pictures. There is a “fonte” here where you can get water. Then continue on to the top. There are washrooms in the newer building that features local artists and craftspeople. There is another building with a large selection of Portuguese sweaters and cork items.

An easy drive and opportunities to stop to look at the landscape on the way up. At the top there is plenty of parking, a restaurant, an artisan shop selling local crafts - they only take cash in there. The cafe is very clean. The views are amazing. Forget the masts there is so much else to look at.

This is the highest point in southern Portugal and based on this and the gorgeous views on the drive up and back down, it's probably worth a trip if you have time. You will need your own vehicle, though, and the fortitude to navigate some very steep (and sometimes poorly paved or unpaved, depending on your route) mountain roads that are poorly signed. There's a couple of gift shops at the top as well, one with gorgeous but overpriced local crafts and another with more budget-friendly trinkets and clothes. There's also a food truck we didn't try that's down a short path from the summit.

Nice view of the coast from both sides. Big parking lots and a nice place to stop after visiting Monochique. Of note is a REALLY NICE artists collective with everything from cork, embroidery, jewelry and wicker. It’s hard to find down in town but the crafters are all here. Also a cafe as well as what has to be the best food truck location.

I read so much about Foia and decided to drive up with my friend after a visit to Monchique for the Festival of the Camellias. The drive was so beautiful. we stopped at a place where a few people lined up for the spring water coming from the mountains.
The views from the top of Foia are very nice but I can see how quickly a clear day can change quickly here. We were lucky because I saw the skyline of Portimao. And, of course, the weather was fantastic when we went.
If you have empty water bottles, you can fill up from the spring up top, too.

Very nice place with amazing views.
The highest point in the Algarve - after we visited the second highest point on the jeep safari - even though it was a bit cloudy while we were there.
Amazing views as is to be expected, but nice little café on top of the mountain, which as seemed to be a nice theme in the Algarve, wasn't expensive. They could have charged what they wanted with their monopoly but chose not to, so hats off to them!

We parked our car about 2 km from the top at a natural spring where locals filled their bottles. This was a beautiful place to have a picnic and enjoy the view.
Then we hiked the remaining distance to the top. The view is magnificent. You see both the south coast and the west coast.
At the top there is a statue in honor of Remco Evenepoel.

Not far from where we were staying, so had to visit! I great place for a good view! Nice and windy :)
The let down are all the huge pylons - but we realise they are a necessity.
The crafts shop is really good. Other shops weren;t any different to what you get in a beach town. We didn't go in the cafe, so can't comment on that - but they did charge us for using the loo!

We did the “Trilho da Foia” hike from the summit. Everything is very well signposted. We can make the loop in any direction we want. Personally, we started from the left side and returned to the starting point at the large antennas. So, it climbs hard the last 20 minutes!! Apart from this small difficulty, nice walk with pretty views. Allow 2 hours actually.

We were lucky enough to have clear weather and could see the cities and the sea in several directions. Spectacular! We took a little hike to the next peak west toward the windmills, through heather and gorse, lots of wildflowers and undeveloped except for the little fire watch stand.
