Nice central beach, just under the miradouro! And if you go inside a tunnel to the right side facing the sea, you will be in the Praia dos Estudantes, it is that simple. However, if you are in Lagos, then walk further and visit Dona Ana and especially Camilo beach. They are amaying.

I didn’t care for this beach even though it is really easy to get to from the bus depot. The sand was really dirty, there was broken glass and other bits of litter in the sand and I couldn’t for the life of me find a rinse off shower. The limestone walls are beautiful under the graffiti. We sunbathed for an hour and left. Keep exploring, there are beautiful beaches to be found.

Very close to old town Lagos and lively but not crowded, for me Batata beach was the perfect place to laze about with a cocktail, gaze out at the water and forget I had any sort of pesky thing like a job. There is a great little cash only beach bar where you can get snacks and drinks. You can camp out on the sand or rent a chair with an umbrella. The beach itself is golden sand tucked into alcoves and cliffs with tunnels connecting different beaches. It was my first time in Lagos and I haven't tried any other beaches...yet...but swimming and relaxing here made me very happy.

While Lagos offers a least a dozen beaches, Batata Beach remains our favourite. It is located very close to town by the entrance to the marina. It is very walkable from most places in town, including the Lagos Marina.
The beach is not at all large but never felt crowded. The sand is golden and the actual swimming area is also sandy and not pebbles. The backdrop is beautiful. Because of the cliffs behind you, the winds never seem to pick up. This is very handy if you happen to be eating or drinking on the beach. You do not have to worry about sand in your food. You can also walk to the adjacent beaches through the rock passages.

It's a lovely little beach to visit when the tide is low and during the winter months it's completely abandoned.

Lovely beach and easily accessible from town. Just by the Fort. Sandy and quite sheltered. You can walk onwards to a couple more beaches. Beautiful honey coloured stacks.

Just like all the beaches around Lagos each one has it's own character. This one is a small beach and can get crowded in the summer. But a different story in the month of November plenty of room. There is a tunnel that connects to the beach next door the estudantes. This beach i tend to use on check in and check out for a holiday as it is the nearest one to the old town. Recommended all the same for sun lovers.

Are dogs allowed on batata beach at any time of the year

To visit the beach? Well, ideally when there are very few other people about.
I was there over December and January and although I did see a few people out swimming, I had the place virtually to myself.
I used to go early in the morning - at first light. It's one of the better spots in Lagos to take sunrise pics and there are lots of beautiful little nooks and crannies to explore around Batata.
I think midday during mid-summer would be an absolute nightmare!!!
