Hey there, traveler! Since 2013, I have been crafting, refining, & sharing one-of-a-kind hiking adventures to the Algarve's wild West coast & historic End of the World, one small batch at a time. My approach is unconventional: I create hands-on, full-sensory outdoor experiences that blend movement, action, and discovery with space for wonder, reflection, education, and surprise, then I sprinkle it all with laughter, stories, music, food, and wine. I choose wilderness & remoteness over guidebook tourist destinations; intentional, mindful travel over superficial sightseeing; discovery & learning opportunities over photo opportunities; and rustic, physical experiences over easy, mass-market ones. My aim is simple & sincere: To share a travel experience that's not just fun, but meaningful; not just good for us, but good for the world; not just a social-media moment, but a memory for life.

I dare to say that the tour with the @westcoastlagos was a life changing experience. Walking through the intact parts of nature, I truly became part of it. There was no need for endless triggering of buttons on the device by which we create memories. As I stood on the edge of the cliff, I felt the breeze on the fingers of my hands, I breathed the freshness of the ocean through the two openings on my nose, I felt free. I felt like a humble believer in the most beautiful cathedral that only can be created by the nature. I will have enternal memory in my mind and heart, I just need to close my eyes and imagine and again... I am standing small, full of respect in front of the vast expanse of water that blends into the horizon with the sky ruled by a powerful wind. I've never felt like that before. I am happy and grateful that I can be part of this beautiful world.

Wow... we had been recommended by a friend to do the Algarve tour, and it surpassed even our high expectations. It was hands down the best thing we did in Portugal, and something we will always remember! T.J. does a great job of bringing the group together, appreciating nature, and pushing you to explore. If you want something unique and off the beaten trail, this is the way to do it!

One of the most memorable experiences of my life was touring the Algarve West coast with T.J. and some other amazing people! T.J., our tour guide, was engaging, informative, and fun! He challenged us to take in the beauty with all of our senses. T.J.'s style was relaxed but he kept us moving so that we received an experience that surpassed expectations! Truly, it was an incredible day with breathtaking vistas, full of energy, and opportunities for contemplation. Lasting until well past sunset, we ate a delicious dinner under the stars. Perfect day!

This tour was an incredible day. TJ put together such a fun, thoughtful and adventurous day for our family. We have 3 kids (17,14,10) he made sure the hikes were challenging but also very rewarding. We started at the top of the cliffs on the west coast with some of the most beautiful views I’ve ever seen. Then we hiked down close to the water where we could see the waves crashing in. The day ended right at sunset where he setup a little picnic for us on top of the cliffs. It was honestly pretty magical. He was great with our kids too! This was all of our favorite day we spent in Portugal. If your looking for something unique, this is the tour to book. Thank you again TJ!

TJ’s planning and personal approach made the experience exceptional. He is a skilled
leader who gave the group enough direction and support when needed and space when appropriate. The experience was something we would never have done alone which made it a high value experience. The small group dinner, on the edge of the cliff, after dark completed a perfect day. No hesitation recommending for all able body ages.

Hiked with TJ in Sept 2022. This is the best small group tour I have ever experienced. TJ has really curated an amazing hiking experience for those who love to be outside! When we reached the West Coast shoreline, it was undoubtedly one of those “is this real life?” moments. Best day of my 8 day trip to portugal. Hope to return to do another tour with TJ some day. Final note, the food he provided for us was divine.

Without giving too much away, TJ has a unique ability to combine hiking, climbing, history, geology, and even some astrology all while creating an incredible sense of adventure. Seriously, you won't be bored for a single second during this hours-long exploration.
I would recommend this tour to anybody who's not averse to getting their hands dirty and venturing a bit outside their comfort zone. As others have mentioned, there are some heights involved, but to most - the discomfort is worth it many times over. And TJ does a very good job of making you feel safe.
The trip is a bit pricey, but sometimes you get what you pay for. (Plus, the other tours in the area aren't cheap either, but are much shorter and don't include a great dinner.) I only did this "outdoor activity" while in Lagos, but I feel very confident saying that this is the one to do.

This was an awesome tour where you will get to see an amazing coastline. The walk is lots of fun and you will get to see areas of the coastline that most people will never get to see. The dinner at the end is delicious and you are surrounded by some stunning scenery. This tour is well worth it and should not be missed. TJ is also very knowledgable and makes the tour extremely fun for all. This is a must do in Lagos.

Wow! In my lifetime, I have had the opportunity to travel to many countries and to hike and travel in some amazing places, including trekking to the base camp at Annapurna in Nepal. The West Coast Adventure Co. seven-hour trek along the cliffs of the southwest Portugal coastline is near the top of my most memorable experiences.
United States ex-pat T.J. runs a wonderful one man operation that leads small groups of visitors on an incredible hike in an area unseen by most visitors to Portugal. My daughter and I, both seasoned travelers, were eager to end our recent trip with a somewhat unique and adventurous hike. T.J gave us and six other wonderful young people a seven-hour experience we won't forget. And despite the one reviewer who rated this trek as less than a five-star experience, the hike is not one for the timid, the unfit, or those who may be a bit afraid of heights. Clambering down and up cliff sides to and then back up from some of the most remote and beautiful beaches in the world requires no technical climbing skills, but a good degree of fitness. The sunset light dinner of wine, cheeses, meats and breads backpacked in by T.J. would have been the highlight were it not for the climb back to the top of a cliff in total darkness. I won't ruin the experience by revealing how we did it safely.
If you are up for a hiking experience suitable for a fit and adventurous person of any age (I am 65), the West Coast Adventure Co. trek is your choice.

This was no doubt the highlight of our trip to the Algarve area of Portugal. TJ definitely is well prepared, knows his stuff, and makes sure you are safe but challenged. Be sure to follow his advice on what to wear and bring with you.
We did three separate hikes and ended with the sunset and dinner. The scenery was amazing.
We are not super experienced hikers but are very fit and found the hike perfect.

I am in Lagos for May 2020 and planning on booking this trip. Wondering if bringing a back pack with water skin and walking stick is necessary. Making a packing list. Since there is a minimum of persons required for this hike, can you suggest a day that is better for booking to assure numbers. I am there May 3-26. Thanks and can't wait!!!!!

Hey, Julie! You do not need a special backpack or water bottle/bladder. I hike with a water bladder, but most do not. Most people just ha a normal backpack and water bottle. I recommend not bringing your walking stick: For the type of terrain we will be on, it will get in the way more than not. With all the time you will be here, it will be no problem to join a tour, there are always enough people. Hi me and my husband will be in the Algarve for the first two weeks of October, I'm really hoping to do this amazing tour but am terrified of heights, I can't be too close to the edge of anything high, will this tour be a no go for me? My husband is fine with heights so he's ok! I'm so trying to find the courage but not sure I want to make a fool of myself and ruin it for other people. Should I give it a go or not? I'm an active fairly fit 50 something 😁

There are definitely heights involved as you are hiking around cliffs that overlook the ocean but you can be kind of conservative with how close to the edge of the cliffs you get. I'm iffy with heights but never felt unsafe and the one small part that seemed a bit scary to me I held back and took in the view from where I was while others went further (a few others stayed where I was as well).
This was the highlight of our trip to Portugal so I would definitely say it is worth pushing past any fears you have to go along. It was so beautiful and a really cool experience overall!

hallo. No he doesn't run all year. His last trips are in October einding. So his trips are from April to October. Thats what we were told by him because we were his last groep this October.
