Worth the walk or drive out to this point. Take a hike along the boardwalk to the west for the spectacular views. Absolute must to walk down the stairway to the east to see the grotto barches up close, especially if you are not able to do a grotto your by boat due to wild winds. Only down side....parking can be a challenge and crowds can be a bit unsettling.

Fantastic place, it looks like from other world. Go there and watch sunset and you won't be disappointed! But, carry some sweater or jacket with you because of strong wind.

Having driven to the lighthouse on several occasions & loved looking at it, from the outside only, we thought we’d walk from it into Lagos. Since neither of us is very good with heights we decided not to follow the very edge of the coast, but to keep the sea in sight & find various dirt tracks heading inland. Unfortunately there seem to be no helpful signposts or clear pathways & so we ended up having to pick our way through convenient ‘gaps’ in several fences, avoiding a startled dog & looking down at the beautiful beaches & grottoes whenever possible. Sadly, an enormous amount of rubbish has been left around the place & we came away feeling somewhat underwhelmed. We probably won’t attempt this again!

F*ING tourist leave the official foot path to get pictures. They destroy this wild life reserve and disturb the birds that nest there. If you like to see how Instagram destroys nature then you have come to the right place!

One moment after another of being left speechless by all the beauty this area has to offer... You can walk it on boardwalks or easier trails, or you can go for the more challenging paths and get even better views. We loved it so much we returned and did it again a couple of days later. A must-see while in the south of Portugal.

Beautiful place, must visit. We actually came here twice. The views are stunning.
We also took a boat and explored the area from the water which was also an amazing experience.
Not to me missed under any circumstances.

I enjoyed a leisurely walk to Ponta da Piedade Lighthouse. Most people took a cab, drove or used a water taxi. But the walk isn't too far and on safe, flat surfaces.
The light house itself is closed and not open to the public. It seems to be some sort of police station or military base, but the cliffs next to and immediately around are breathtaking.
It's a quick walk down and not much to do down there except rent a water taxi to drive you around and into the water caves. They require at least two passengers or you'll pay double for a single person.
Don't miss the amazing murals under the bridge on the walk out. Lagos has some amazing artists running around and painting abandoned buildings.
I went after 2:30pm and it was packed. I met a couple of English tourists and said that the early am was the best time to visit. They recommended 7 or 8am.

It is a disappointment that you can't get in the lighthouse as it is a working marine police station, but the views from outside are wonderful. On the east you can look north to Meia Praia and Lagos and the awe inspiring sandstone pillars along the coast, and looking west you can see as far as Sagres, and all the coast past Praia da Luz when the visibility is good, which is most of the time.
Behind the lighthouse on the east side a long flight of steps leads down right to a platform near the caves where when the tide is right you can board a boat and explore the area from the sea. There are great cliff walks in both directions.
The name Bridge of Piety is supported by the fact that at the gate is the #14 tabernacle representing the Way of the Cross. This pilgrims walk begins at the city gate nearest to the northern end of the long almost straight road that leads to the lighthouse. It makes a nice walk from town visiting each of the 14 stage tabernacles.

Easy to park, easy walking on some boardwalks. Cliff erosion very evident and good shoes essential. Good views of natural sandstone cliffs, archways and bird life. Bring your camera.

How far is it to walk from Lagos bus terminal to Ponte de Piedade?

it's a bit of a trek. I would suggest you get the small train that runs up to the light house from the promenade by the bus garage.
The train runs every 10 mins . 1.50 euro each.
