About
When we first founded our company 21 years ago in Lagos, we already had transformed our first wooden ship into the well known “Via Sagres”. We started something unique; we invented the boat trip from the Doca Pesca in Lagos to the harbour of Sagres, showing off a beautiful coastline, only known to fishermen back then. This has been and still is a huge success, as we continue to be the only company doing it. Many thousands of people have seen it and many are coming back each year to visit again. In the meantime our grotto trip to Ponta da Piedade visting the incredible rock formations of Lagos also became very successful. Our business grew and we transformed yet another boat, this time a steel vessel originally from the Netherlands into our famous “Via Atlântica”. We can easily seat about 70 people on each one, which gives us a lot of flexibility, when it comes to groups. Today we also own three small boats seating about 10 people each, so that our guests have the opportunity to experience the astonishing views inside the caves.

All very efficient, friendly staff and a guide who shared lots of local knowledge with us. Lots of fun - highly recommended. We were also lucky to have a really calm day ,so not strong currents or waves to deal with 🤩

We took the half day 3 hour tour from Lagos which went up to Ponte da Piadade where the little boats took people off into the grottos and then on to Porto Da Mos and Praia da Luz. It is a very sturdy, safe and comfortable boat to be on with good but not intrusive commentary as we went round and the most excellent hot chicken and salad lunch. The food was great, there was plenty of it and there was plenty of water and red wine too.all part of the deal.

It was a very relaxing and interesting trip and we were so well looked after by Telma and her fantastic crew.

We have done a lot of boat tours over the many years we have been coming to Lagos but this was one of the bets and we look forward to coming back next year and doing the 6 hour cruise to Sagres and back,

My boyfriend and I visited Algarve last week and on the last day of our visit we tried a boat tour with Actual Boat Trips company and a 45 min kayak cruise. No words to describe how great the service and all the staff were. The kayak experience was one of the best things we have tried, the instructor was with us at all times showing us the incredible caves and explaining the story behind each beach and each cave. After that we got back on the boat and continued our tour. The staff were showing us everything around and hats off to the lovely captain who gave us binoculars and let us stand with him behind the nautical and simply made our tour special. All the staff seemed to have a great time together and we had a lot of laughs and jokes. Thank you all who were with us on the boat and made our trip special. Will be back

We were group of 12 people, started the tour nice, arrived at Sagres around 1:07 PM after 3 hours boat ride, the guide informed us that we have 1 hour to look around and at the same time the guid said they will leave at 2:00 PM. At 2:00 PM everyone boarded the boat except one couple where they were stuck at a store dealing with slow owner writing a manual receipt. At 2:06 PM the guid gave the order to the captain to abandon the couple and leave, thanks to the rest of the couple that insisted for the boat to wait for them. The guid at this point insulted all of us Americans and said "I'm sure you don't do that in your own country", but the guid forgot that the cause of the delay is their own country people, and forgot that the couple were spending money for Portugal. The comment was not not appreciated despite the fact each person paid €60 just to be insulted. The actual staff of the boat were beyond great and awesome. The tour is ok, but I would recommend do the same activities on your own. Nothing really in the town to see except wasting 3 hours of your vacation time.

Remember, if you decided to do that tour, do not be late or better yet don't leave the boat.

Really nice day out. 6 hours, lunch included, well worth the money. €49 per person. But always chance for less! Got it for €80 for two people, really friendly staff and when stuck on a boat for that long it's a great way to get chatting and meet knew people. Perhaps a little crowded for lunch, for the sake of a minutes work should have put up the table on ports side and made a bit more room for people. But plenty food was offered. All in all a great way to see the grottoes and visit sagres.

We went on the five hour trip from Lagos to Sagres and back with a tour of the caves included. The boat was comfortable and had seats around the edge as well as one up front. The toilet facilities were clean and in good condition and there was a bar throughout the journey. Bettina the guide gave a commentary in four languages which was very enlightening. We had a nice meal served just before Sagres - chicken and a salad as well as wine and water. The whistle stop tour of the caves was efficiently executed as we were transferred in batches to smaller boats. In Sagres we had only about 50 minutes and Sagres was reached by a steep set of stairs. A thoroughly enjoyable day

If you go on only one boat trip when in Lagos or Praia da Luz, make sure it is this one. These boats take you right up close to the caves and grottoes, which were fantastic. The price was extremely reasonable and you do get a lot of time on the boat, best part of an hour. Fantastic trip and would definitely recommend this trip.

Amazing experience, beautiful views, your was an hour long, and although this sounds short, it was plenty. The tour guide took us right into the caves and told us all about the area. Both Bonne and Sarah was amazing, so friendly and very good English! Would recommend going on one of the smaller boats so you can get right in the caves, would do it again :-)

The staff was friendly but the tour through the caves was very short. Rent kayaks and go on your own, it’s not far. The main reason for the 2 star reviews is that we were promised a baby life jacket. I gave my daughter’s weight and informed them I was only booking with them because they promised a baby life jacket. However, when we got on the boat, they didn’t have anything and tried to tell us a life jacket for a child double her weight would suffice. When I told Fatima, the woman we booked with, she lied to my face and said that she hadn’t promised a life jacket and that we didn’t need one. This is incorrect, as one is required for the small boat that goes through the caves.

Loved it. For starters the meeting spot was easily identifiable and central. Checking onto the boat was super quick and confirmed with our online ticket. They explained how to use and maneuver the kayaks, and were brief and too the point!!(they speak many languages) Our guide Miguel was amazing and the reason I put the 5th star. He was funny and entertaining and made sure that everyone on the trip could hear him explain about the caves. The boat took us out decently far, then we hopped in kayaks and went for about an hour and 15 minutes(there and back). Gave great explaination about the caves while still leaving time to see more. He also offered to take photos which I appreciated. Went bank to the boat and got to go swimming which was beautiful. My only complaint is that they did not have enough goggles for everyone ( only had about 6 for a boat of 20)
