    A little dissapointing
For what you are getting I would say this was overpriced. Do not be conned by the term 'deep sea' fishing, we went a few minutes out of the harbour. Overall you come away feeling you have been slightly ripped off. On the plus side the captain and crew were friendly.

    Good but Over-Priced
There was 6 Adults and 2 Children on our trip with Jacko and crew of 1. We set off at 8am to go Shark-Fishing, returning at 1.30pm. We all caught a shark, one rod at a time (that can't have been a coincidence)...Jacko really knew what he was doing and was an entertaining host. On reflection, you spend an awful long time on a boat for very little activity. The lines are cast for you and when a shark strikes, you get the chance to reel him in towards the boat, then the crew take over again...so, it's not fishing in the true sense of the word, but you do get the sense of fighting the shark!!! I can only assume that the crew takeover at the end for safety reasons. The price at 75euro is overpriced (in my opinion), and charging 50euro for children who just sit and watch is unjustified. I did enjoy it...but at that price would probably not go back.

    SLIGHT RIP OFF
This boat does 'Shark Fishing' in the mornings and 'bottom fishing' in the afternoons. We did the 'bottom fishing' which basically involves sailing out of Lagos for a few kilometres, locating some fish on the sea bed, about 40m down, and then casting with bait to try to catch fish. The boat can take a maximum of 8 people all fishing from the back with the two hosts so it can get pretty cramped. I took my nine year old along and my wife came as a 'spectator'. There were five other guys there. What was great was that my son, who is a novice, caught loads of fish - probably as much as the rest put together. He had a great time and got to take loads of fish home afterward. We then came back to Praia da Luz and sold the fish to a local restaurateur - so he was well chuffed all in all. The 'bottom fishing' experience lasts about for hours and I have to say that I got well bored before the end. You don't pay the man until the end and that was when the sting arrived. He charged full price for my wife who had sat and read a book for the whole time - which she could just as easily have done at Lagos Marina. If she had known beforehand that she was going to be charged 45 Euros she would not have stepped on Board. So, in total, for 130 Euros, a bit of a rip off. However worth it because my boy had a great day and now has the fishing bug.

I am appalled by the unprofessionalism of this company. My boyfriend and I booked a 6-hour shark fishing excursion with Pescamar. The evening before the trip, we received the confirmation call that the weather forecast was good and we would be leaving the dock at 8am the next morning. However, when we arrived early the next morning, the crew of the Pescarmar looked and gestured at us strangely and talked amongst themselves as they continued preparing the boat and fishing rods. We finally caught their attention and mentioned our reservation for the trip, and the crew looked at each other and then conferenced together again. Finally, the captain of the boat told us there had been a "misunderstanding." He said there would be no shark fishing trip that day, but wouldn't provide a logical explanation for why the trip was canceled when it had been confirmed less than 12 hours earlier. (He admitted that there were no weather-related concerns that day). Reading between the lines as we pressed the captain for an explanation, the other travelers who booked the shark fishing trip date had canceled the night before and the crew did not think it was worth their time to take only two people out in the boat. That may have been an acceptable explanation (even though the boat only had a capacity of 8 anyway and we were paying 140 euros + expecting to pay a nice tip for a good trip), but they did not even attempt to call us the night before or the morning of the trip. We had already waken up early, packed up all our gear, and made the long walk to the marina. They couldn't rebook for the next day, the last day of our vacation, because it was already booked. They did not attempt to help us find another solution (recommendation of another company that could maybe squeeze us in, etc.). If they had given us notice earlier, we could have booked with another company, but Pescamar did not give us that common courtesy. The captain was unapologetic despite canceling what we fully expected would be the highlight of our trip.

To add insult to injury, as we were walking away, the crew took off in the fully stocked boat for its own day of personal fishing! Do not waste your time with this unreliable, unprofessional company!! Apparently Pescamar has no problem canceling your reservation without any notice at all to take their own personal fishing trip.

Excited leaving for a 6 hour shark fishing trip, (140 euros, 70 per person), the captain told us before leaving we might now catch a shark today....that dudn't start well. During the trip, we were never offered, beer, water, food...anything! Meanwhile the captain went in the cabin making himself a sandwich. People on the boat felt insulted. We never touched a line during the whole trip, keep in mind there is a price for spectator which is 50 euro per person. When came time to pay, the captain resquested an extra10 euro for fishing license. We tried getting some euro's back ( we were ready to pay the spectator fee) were we booked our trip but didn't to reimburse us the difference. I coukd go on about a few other things....the key message here....PLEASE STAY AWAY!!!

4 of us went out on Wednesday afternoon with Captain Jacko and crew on his lovely, well equipped boat from Lagos marina. We anchored a couple of miles or so off Praia da Luz and spent a busy 3 hours catching a vast array of fish from conger eels to Nemo. Most were too small for the pot but we ended up with 60 or 70 good sized eaters. Lots of Besugos, Black Bream, Red Snapper, Safias and more. All great barbecue material.
On our return these were dished out between us and I distributed my share between most of our friends as there were far too many for the freezer.
The whole thing cost 45 euros plus 3 for the fishing licences each. This probably makes them the most expensive fish in the world, but what a great afternoon out.
The boat is well equipped with toilet and hand washing facilities, and drinks too.
All fishing tackle, bait and expert help and advice were also included - you just turn up and go.
A great afternoon out. Would have been a bit crowded with 8 people on board but we were lucky.
An experience to be repeated. The fish tasted even better having been caught by us!
The boat and crew can be hired for 2000 or so euros for the whole day to go big game fishing.
The chance of catching a Marlin over 350 kilos or a massive shark has got to be an idea for a very special occasion. Ask Captain Jacko to show you the photos -WOW!

This is a nice size boat and just a bit cramped in the cabin if all 8 spots are taken and you all aren't friends. We signed up for the bottom fishing. A good price for a little fishing. The spot is just a short ride from the harbor. I knew the fish would be small but they were all under size. Even the one that was big enough to keep would not have fed a person for dinner. The captain and mate did work hard trying to keep folks baited up. I'd give them 4 stars. This trip is great for kids or folks who have never fished. But if you know what you are doing you'd best go for big game.

We did a bottom fishing trip with Pescamar. They took us to a good location where we had a nice view of the Lagos coast line. Life jackets & all fishing equipment + bait was provided. We benefited from having their expertise - they knew which fish were good and big enough to keep. We caught enough to feed 4 people for dinner; others caught some big red snappers. The fish tasted great on the BBQ. We would certainly go back!

We had a 4 hour charter for bottom-feeding fish. It was such good fun - we caught loads of bream and mackerel. Unfortunately we were not staying in self-catering accommodation so couldn't really take the fish back with us to cook and eat, but other folk on the charter did so. The boat skipper and his off-sider were a great laugh and so helpful with instruction and bait handling etc. You get great views of the Lagos coastline while fishing in pristine waters. Highly recommended!

This was the second time I have ventured out with Jacko and we maintained our 100% catch rate in some style. Landing 4 blue sharks two of which were around 6ft. Jacko always provides a warm welcome and his experience on the water is pretty much unrivalled. The conditions we faced were less than ideal so to catch at all was good going. I’ve seen a few reviews on here critiquing the crews “hands on approach”, I’ve also seen the jaws and power of a blue shark on balance I’m more than happy to take Jacko’s support when available! Would recommend pescamar without hesitation and I’ll be going back.

Like many of the other reviewers commented Captain Jocko and his assistant Joao are very experienced fisherman. They took us to a spot and we caught a lot of fish. Joao was very patient and really helped us with our fishing technique. And, unlike an earlier review, even though someone had cancelled, they honored our reservation and took us out as scheduled. Instead, they brought along a friend to fish. Where the story turns sad is that they took the fish that I caught and gave me the fish that there friend had caught. My fish was pretty spectacular and about 2-3 kg larger. Even though we left them most of the fish we had caught, they felt the need to steal our fish. (See the pictures). When we arrived home and found they had given us the other fish we were so hurt that they would do something like that. If they would do something that unethical what else are they capable of. I would not recommend this boat captain. I hope you can find someone with more honesty.

What an amazing day out!!!!! This is a perfect activity for novice fishers and the kids had a fabulous time. It was very easy for all of us to pluck out 7+ fish each and the four hours went very quickly as we were all busy baiting up, catching and taking pictures of our amazing fish! The Pescamar guys were great with the kids and very patient whilst we repeatedly tangled our lines!

A couple of things to note, you need to take all your own drinks/food but if you are going out for four hours who wouldn’t?!! They need some ID for the fishing licenses so remember to take this with you.

Just got back from a day of shark fishing with Captain Jacko and his mate. Booked the trip via phone call the day before. My wife and I were supposed to be grouped with 3 other people but they cancelled the evening before. Jacko called us and gave the option to reschedule or to charter the boat ourselves for a great price, which we did.

We went out for 6 hours of blue shark fishing. While it was tough fishing initially we were very fortunate to hook into 2 beautiful 6 foot+ sharks in the last hour (see pictures). I think some the negative reviews here relate to people who didn't catch fish. Of course, thats part of fishing. Jacko provided a first class fishing charter, comfortable boat with full facilities that even my wife was impressed with, current equipment, fresh bait and hands on knowledge that he was happy to share with us. Good to see that both Jacko and his mate, who have been fishing their entire lives, were still as excited as we were to hook into those beautiful fish!

Highly recommended to anyone who enjoys fishing!
