    Lovely beaches and caves
Potato Point is a beautiful place. The beaches, caves and rock formations are other worldly. It was not crowed when we were there in May 2 023. I hightly recommend taking a boat tour to see the caves and drift around the lovely rock formations.

    Mindblowing
OMG, you HAVE to check out Ponta de Piedade ! It's like stepping into a postcard from paradise. The cliffs and rocks here are mind-blowing. Seriously, the water is this insane shade of blue and the cliffs are all golden and majestic. I couldnt stop taking selfies with the unreal views. But the real deal is the boat tour. We hopped on a boat and sailed through these epic caves and arches. The rocks are twisted and shaped in the craziest ways. We even spotted a rock that looks like an elephant and another one like a camel! Our guide was a legend, telling us all the juicy deets about these rock formations. If you're up for some thrills, try kayaking or paddleboarding. I chickened out, but watching others do it got my heart pumping. The place is buzzing with excitement. Just a little tip: go early or pick a less busy time. It can get packed, but honestly, who cares when the place is so damn cool? Oh, and don't forget to wear comfy kicks. The paths can be a bit uneven, but it's worth it for the views. And slather on some sunblock and grab a hat. The sun here is savage! Ponta de Piedade is an absolute must-see for all you nature lovers, adventure junkies, and just anyone who wants their mind blown. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. In a nutshell, when you're in Lagos, make Ponta de Piedade your number one stop. It's a nature spot that will make you fall in love with Mother Earth all over again.

    Great view
This is an amazing scenic spot. I enjoyed going down the steps to the bottom to view some outside caves. As I had already seen the inside of the grottos a few days earlier by boat. A nice area to hike to from Lagos and beyond. Definitely a place not to miss out on.

    Great Family activity
Excellent experience boat trip with kayak tour of sea caves Had Martin ,Captain and Zoya as our guides . Was great fun saw loads of caves . Was busy and a couple of areas more powerful boats weren’t courteous. Which caused lots of waves and a couple of boats capsized! They got sorted and were fine . Good overall experience! Only 12 plus the crew .

Morning trip to Ponta Da Piedade
Family of 4, children aged 7 & 11. Beautiful location, the boardwalk set up really is great. Stunning views. We went early morning and only a handful of people around. Currently a lot of renovation in that area with a lot of properties being built so the road down was closed but there was another free car park around 12-15 min walk away. One of the highlights of our trip. Actually looked like it does in the photos and some wonderful birds flying around.

    Beautiful Views
Gorgeous views. We drove to the nearest car park which is free, and walked down along all the adjoining boardwalks taking in all the views and finally descending down the steps at the end for a closer look. Bring water and sun protection as it is hot out there and there are lots of steps if you go all the way down to the bottom. Boat company at the bottom of the steps offering tours for €25/ adult. Small cafe towards the tip and public bathrooms beside this (looked a little shabby from the outside but didn’t use). Definitely recommend a visit to this beautiful place.

    Easy Hike, Lovely View
When we visited, the waters were fairly rough so many of the boat trips were cancelled. Anyone wanting to do a coastal tour needs to re-consider/re-plan if this embargo (especially of Benagil cave) persists. We had a car so we were able to drive fairly close to the point itself, plenty of parking in the area. The hike to the lighthouse was around 15 mins from that point, fair flat so a leisurely walk even in the sun. If you go further along the coastal walk, there is a nice area to take in the sunset (but get there early as the nice spots are taken up quickly).

    Best sunset
The evening was approaching and after a visit to the old city of Lagos, we had time only for a short stop at Ponta da Piedade. It so happened that we arrived just before sunset, and together with many other visitors we were able to enjoy the lovely sunset from the top of the cliffs at this fantastic site. We had no time to take a walk along the many footpaths prepared in the area, but that will be one of the attractions of this site. We also observed murmurations which are huge groups of starlings that twist, turn, swoop and swirl across the sky in beautiful shape-shifting clouds.

    Incredible views
Amazing place with many viewpoint and kilometres of good quality boardwalks. Good cafe near the lighthouse. Free parking and free to enter. There is almost too much to see, so we couldn't visit all of the viewpoints. The best place is down many flights of steps at sea level, near the lighthouse.

    Pleasant winters walk
Parked at the new car park a few hundred metres from the Ponta. You can either take the traffic-free road down, or else what looks like a new boardwalk along the coast. Note that the various boardwalk viewpoints generally stop a safe distance from the cliffs meaning you don't get great views from most of them. People were leaving the boardwalks to get the views. At the end at the Ponta you can get good views from the official paths and steps though. The scenery is interesting - worth coming I'd say, but if your choice is this or the Seven Valleys walk, then I'd do sections of the Seven Valleys walk.

I’ve seen many pictures of Ponta de Piedade and really wanted to visit, but was let down by the amount of people down there.

It was hard to move around because there was no type of control of people going down. People arrive in boats too, which just adds more traffic and takes away from any good views.

Would recommend going here very early in the morning before boat rides begin or people set about their day. You’ll most likely get the sun shining there and uninterrupted crystal clear waters.

Alternatively, we took a kayak excursion the next day and viewed it from there and was much better (pictured).

Spectacular view hot busy trail. You can usually find parking at the beginning of the trail but plenty of people were turning around driving down road looking for a spot. Great news is that clearly the local government has invested in building a raised boardwalk so you won’t lose your way though plenty of people were escaping from fenced boardwalk to take their selfies on the cliffs edge. There is a fantastic view west of Lagos once you pass the lighthouse and walk to the high point. Worth 30-40 minutes but unless you’re making it out for the fantastic sunset you wouldn’t make a day of it.

A lovely place to watch the sunset! I drove there with my friend who has a car and is a local and showed me this spot. After we got to the lighthouse, we walked to the right side and there is a wooden path which is very poetic and there were some benches for people to sit and watch the sunset. Previously, I had gone there and did not turn right but left and walked around to have a closer look of the rock formations and also saw very big set of stairs going down but apparently there was no beach there. I went shortly after lockdown opening of Portugal so there were no boat tours in whole Algarve.

This is a spot we returned to again and again during our four day stay in Lagos--at sunset, sunrise and in between. It was breathtaking from every vantage point and the vistas incredible. Sadly, it rained during much of our time there, but Ponta da Piedade did not disappoint even in a downpour. It is so worth visiting. We could have spent more time wandering the boardwalks and paths. We did eventually take the steps all the way down to the water, and that was worthwhile. Do not miss this snapshot of nature at its finest.

Lovely walks rain or shine along the cliff edges on the outskirts of Lagos. There you will witness the interesting geography that makes this region well known. See cliffs, birds and grottos along the way. Park in the parking lot near the lighthouse or along the side of the road between the O Camilo restaurant and the lighthouse. Wheel chair accessible along the boardwalk but unless you go off the main trails (dangerous) there is much less to see. Don’t miss the steps leading down to the water near the lighthouse on the city side. There is a very picturesque grotto there.
Get to the beach via stairs near O Camilo restaurant. Bring your binoculars and camera and a hat. No shade.

Next to Lagos (it takes less than half-hour to walk from the city to there) this kind of sightseeing point allows you to overlook great rock formations, coming from the sea, or implanted in the sea; it depends the way you want to look at them. When in Lagos, don’t miss it. Enjoy!

This is the second time we have done this kayaking tour. The guys are so friendly and good fun. Particularly Martin today who had to work extra hard as there was a very difficult person in the group who could easily have wreaked havoc but he dealt with her very well. I’d highly recommend !

Ponta da Piedade offers breathtaking views and scenery. There are a lot of easy hiking trails to take around the cliffs to get different vantage points. Note that some of the trails can be very steep or go right up to the cliffs edge in some cases. There were plenty of people climbing out to rock formations they should not have been and were lucky they didn't fall to their death just to get that perfect Instagram photo. There is additionally the option to take a motorboat tour through the rock formations if you have the time to spare.
