At this time of year (February) few, except visiting Scandinavians and kite surfers in wetsuits venture into the sea, and it is mostly those taking exercise on land that frequent the beach. Walkers, joggers and even beach volleyball players are out, and in the winter months, dog owners take advantage of a tolerance to let their pets run free, on 4 km of beautiful sand.
In winter, not all the beach bars and restaurants are open regularly, so check if you plan to eat. As in summer the beach is quieter the further you go east from town, but right in the middle of the beach, at around the 2 km point, a pair of adjacent bars, Bar Quim and Por do Sol are usually open by 10 am all year.
The beach is gently ic hj SAsffilc onhshelving and safe, and not generally affected by excessively large waves except during and after storms. The safest family beach in the area. Sadly the first photo in those shown is definitely not of Meia Praia which has no cliffs.

Lovely beach and plenty of space. Not so crowded in Sep but it can get busier from 3-4pm. There is a lovely restaurant O Antonio so you can stay on beach all day and have a lovely lunch/dinner there. Check the tides as there are sometimes very high.

5km stretch of wide clean sandy beach backed by low sand dunes. Beautiful crystal clear sea. Take the Vai Vem ferry crossing at 1 euro each way to save walking all around the marina.

Such a beautiful beach. We have been coming here for 20 years. It’s such a shame that each time we come there are more and more dogs, with families, running all over the beach and in the sea. This is not allowed, but these families ignore the warning signs. I find this very unhygienic.

Meia Praia is very busy during the summer months but there’s always space to sit! The best time to go would be in the late afternoon, and there are lots of nice restaurants close by. It’s a very long beach which makes it ideal for a beach stroll. Best to avoid this beach during strong winds!

Beach opens to open ocean. No rocks or cliffs to obstruct walk. Dunes behind. A bracing good walk as waves were often strong. Love the Dunlins that scurried with the incoming tide for tidbits.

I hiked from Torre to Meia Praia on a warm and beautiful day. I have been to this beach a few times and love its serene appeal. The sandy beach goes for miles on both ends and I assume there’s enough space for the beach lovers in the summer.

There are a few restaurants which offer meals.

Beautiful place.

Great beach, access is a little difficult (cross train tracks) but is quiet. Numerous places to drink and eat (but not close to one another, so plan ahead for toilet breaks, etc), all friendly and well-priced. Sand is lovely but not too fine, plenty of shells for the seeker.

I couldn't imagine a better Summer destination than Lagos turned out to be. As picturesque as the small beaches that surround the city might be, I really found myself "at home" at Meia Praia beach. It is a couple of palm trees short of a fairy tale.
When my partner suggested we would try having a massage (because of the good price) I had no idea what awaited me. The masseuse's friendliness was only surpassed by her amazing skill. We were both very relaxed and at the same time full of energy afterwards, it's hard to explain the feeling but, amazing! It was a small orange tent in front of "Linda Beach Bar", I believe her name is Guida Vieira (Thank you Guida)

This is a totally unspoilt beach for families with miles of golden sand. Its great for kids especially if they like collecting shells and building sand castles. There is a small collection of restaurants however, some may close in January/February.

Do take a windbreak as it can be be windy.

Please be aware there are nudists at the Alvor end of the beach.
