"Centro Ciência Viva do Algarve" is a quite interesting and live museum! It brings freshness and creativity to Faro. Visit its permanent exhibition - "Das Estrelas às Estrelas" ("From the Stars to the Stars", in English), very instructive and designed for kids. it links "galactic stars" to the "starfish" found at neighboring "Parque Natural da Ría Formosa". Three aquariums and interactive spaces complete the scene. Science workshops are available for kids between 5 to 10 years old, and even birthday parties can be held at its premises. If you are staying a few days in Faro and brought your kids, they will certainly enjoy the visit. But for adults, it may be not so interesting. Enjoy!…

It's quite hands on - you can experience an earthquake, create a vortex in water, look at the effect of tide on sand, watch an orrery go round, look at local fish and sea creatures (under supervision you can touch them, but it seems a bit like harassment). It was quite hot and humid inside. For 4 euro it's probably best if you have a child to amuse.…

Small but perfectly formed. Science section is fun and educational right down to how a tornado forms. The aquarium section is literally hands on and coupled with a lovely multi lingual guide is a real learning experience. An absolute must see.

This is a place made with real love and passion. It allows you to engage in a tactile way with a real range of scientific knowledge, which is great for kids, I'm sure. As a 24 year old science teacher, it similarly chimed my juvenile passions for empirical enquiry: it is cheap, the staff are generous and the displays well informed and articulate. And a bar on the top. I could've stayed for days!…
