Our driver dropped us at Alto da Praia do Carvoeiro at 10:39am. The first thing I saw, was the cutest doggy looking out from the veranda of an apartment. Then I turned around and saw this spectacular view of Carvoeiro. Beautiful. Reminds me of Cinque Terre in Italy except the latter was more colourful and prettier. It was love at 1st sight: For the doggy and the spectacular view of Carvoeiro! We were very fortunate because we even managed to secure a 2:30pm boat tour with Carvoeiro Caves (right at Carvoeiro Beach)… thanks to the obnoxious competitor next to them and two elderly ladies who decided not to take the last 2 available slots. I REALLY wanted to see to Benagil Caves !!Visited October 2023Traveled with friendsWritten October 15, 2023

Its worth taking in the view from both of the headlines at each side of the cove. Various eating options and shops around and in striking distance.Visited February 2024Traveled soloWritten February 18, 2024

It is a very pretty beach with lovely cafes - but not so many noisy tourists. The water is still freeeezing though. Well worth a visitVisited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 29, 2024

It is a horsehoe-shaped beach flanked by the sandstone sea cliffs in southern Portugal. Its golden sand looking at the Ocean on one side & boats, restaurants & whitewashed Mediterranean houses on the other side, makes it one of the Algarve's best beaches. You can take all the tours, especially to Benagil Cave from here (its best & cheap to book here, than to go to trip organizers in the town). It can be really hot at times but there are toilets, changing room & free public shower to wash off sand (which is not so common to find on the beaches in Algarve). Plenty of amazing restaurants & shops nearby, plenty of parking space (free with 5 minutes walk + paid on street sides) + super markets (to buy water, juice & junk food). You must also take a ride on the "land train" to roam around the city (its worth it & starts right outside the beach). Evening view & if you are lucky - some shows will add to flavour. You will also see an option to click free photo & send it to your email id. Enjoy!

Very close to the town and easily accessible, this is a super beach for family fun. Chasing the waves, or more accurately them chasing you, seems to be best at this time of year when swimming would not be advised. Great views of the beach and town can be had from the coastal path on both sides.

This beach is small but perfectly formed. In recent years they have provided some modern toilet facilities close by, which is excellent. Unfortunately, I note that one of the restaurants is undergoing a modernisation/rebuild which I don't think is in keeping with the local buildings. I think that Carvoeiro is so charming as it is low rise and in most cases the homes and businesses are built in the local style.

The beach is located in the middle of the small town of Carvoeiro, which used to be a fishing village.
We loved the beautiful scenery, but the beach was a bit crowded and we went to the quieter "Praia do Paraiso" (about 5-10 minutes on foot) - there the atmosphere was much more pleasant.
Right next to Praia do Carvoeiro are also numerous restaurants - but at tourist prices. On the beach there is also a stage where music is played in the evening and children have a lot of fun.
For sunset we recommend "Algar Seco"! It is a beautiful rock formation, which is about 900m away from Praia do Carvoeiro.

A busy beach but good amenities (toilets and cafes) and fish to snorkel with! There was less seaweed than other beaches nearby.
