This was a wonderful day out tasting wine and visiting the historic town of Silves. The winery visit was well done with a tour of the facility explaining the whole process for the different wines. The wine tasting was good, tasting each of the 'standard' red, white and rose wines produced. We then had a choice to taste a premium red, white or rose - pick the red it was wonderful. We also had a plate of cheese and cold meats to eat with crackers.
Following this we went to Silves to see the Moorish castle and Cathedral and wandered round in our own time.
The best thing about the tour though was the guide. João was very friendly and had a wealth of local knowledge and took time to stop and show many points of interest such as nesting storks in Silves, turtles in the river near the winery, aniseed plants etc. He even stopped and bought us all oranges and plums from an old lady by the road. Highly recommended.

Our driver/guide Carlos was exceptional and, nothing was too much trouble, he was very informative and very courteous to all his guests. we all came back much more knowledgeable about the history of the algarve,

This was terrific. The guide was from Albufeira, and was so helpful and informative.
Really great. Just one afternoon, but the vineyard was small and cozy. They served some snacks to go with the wine, and it was really lovely.

I did this tour in March with Australian friends & it was excellent and so fantastic I did it again with Family (& will be back I'm sure) Thank you Carlos our Tour Guide, he was wonderful with a lot of knowledge & thank you to Marco at PAXA Wines. Also thank you Quinta do Frances Wines. ❤

It was a different experience and we were lucky to enjoy it on our own and even to collect some grapes to try while learning new things. The way the trip is organised is very convenient and overall we were well satisfied by the end of it. Obrigada, João&company!

What an amazing day from start to finish. Two vineyards visited were great, wines top notch. Silvas a lovely place to visit. By far the best part of the trip was our guide who was knowledgeable funny and went out of his way to ensure we had a good day. Can’t recommend the trip highly enough.

Picked up from Hotel in Albufeira at 10.00 by Guide in small 8 seater Mini Bus just right size for personal tour. Apologies to Guide for possible misspelling of name but Joao or Jaoa was so friendly and welcoming right from the start.
Our first stop was in a field where there were several Cork Trees really interesting I had seen a documentary on this so was great to see real thing and get good description of process. On through lovely scenery to first Vineyard, Paxa a small family run business with 5 employees. Shown process from vine to grape to fermentation and finally tasting. Lilly the vineyard guide was so passionate about product as well she should be. Nice Red and White but amazing Rose. Few nibbles to complement the wine. The 8 strangers are now friends!
Stopped at Silves for Port taste and very quick lunch stop then on to second vineyard. The second Winery was on a much bigger scale and although we liked tour it could not beat the small but perfectly formed morning Paxa vineyard.
We stopped on way back to see a flock of storks on river, from a distance but wonderful. Lots of interesting facts from our guide on fauna, flora and history of region.
Would thoroughly recommend this tour. Thanks for a great day out.

This was a great trip. We were picked up at 2pm by João and for the next 4+ hours he regaled us with stories about wine making in the Algarve region, the history of the region, and its culture. Throughout all this we were treated to stunning country views. We also tasted amazing wines. So amazing that we couldn't help but buy a bottle to take home. The vineyard we visited was beautiful and it was interesting to be taken through the winemaking process step by step

We were picked up on time at our hotel and joined by another couple for the half day tour. Joao our guide was extremely informative. On our way to the winery we stopped off for him to explain the harvesting of cork, which was very interesting. We then went to the historic town of Silves, where we were given time to explore the Moorish castle and local church.
Then on to the winery, where Joao showed us around the process. He also explained the story of the winery and the type of grapes used. We were then able to sample four different types of wine, accompanied by a selection of chorizo, smoked ham and cheeses.
At no stage did we feel hurried or rush, nor under any pressure to buy any wine. However of course we did buy a bottle of their of their wonderful sauvignon blanc!
I can recommend this tour and the enthusiastic and informative Joao to anyone looking for a great tour.

hi, i have a group of 7 that want to book the wine tasting tour, however i have two young kids, please can advise weather this will be child friendly ( transportation and all) will i have to pay a full ticket for them as they are not drinking/?
