This is a well organised and interesting market which sells fish, fruit & veg, flowers , take away food and even sells alcohol, and much more. It's very clean and has toilets avaiable on site. Well worth a visit.

We strolled through the market building on a Wednesday late morning and there was very little happening. Only a handful of vendors were open including three that specialize in cheese. Perhaps it's busier later in the day of weekends. Unless this is the case it's not worth visiting.

The whole town is in the market for shopping, having a drink and socializing. It's the main attraction on a Saturday in beautiful Evora. Not to miss if you like to eat, drink, shop and see the people. Beautiful architecture also.

a 'market inside the market' , Ze' do Bacalhau is a store with plenty of good value options. I liked their goat and sheep cheese. He has a great selection of regional wines at a great value.

As hard as it is to believe, there is a shop inside this mercado selling bad wine. We went to visit Divinus, an excellent wine seller, but it was closed. Across at the Mercado Municipal Sr. A.J. Valerie is busily promoting Quinta do Valerio. He won't offer a taste, so you won't find out his wine is "cooked" until you open it later: the only UNDRINKABLE WINE we had in 3 weeks on the Iberian Peninsula! AVOID

The day before we had strolled by the almost empty market. Some of the small stalls were still open and we walked into one where we picked some wonderful cookies that are not so sweet, but COOKIES! We made our own combination and they were all delicious! Also checked out candies and the famous dried cod. Fun times and we planned to return the next day. Inside that same market were some small fruit and veggie vendors. I bought some peaches, nectarines and plums, plus some nice tomatoes too. We were having lots of picnics when we were driving around, so the fresh produce and bread was ideal. The ham was great too, and everything is now available in small packages - different from our first travels years ago where we would go to each of the shops and get their specialties. I guess that's life. :)

Then on Sat - this market was ALIVE! We bought even more fruit from the vendors outside - a watermelon! Everything we found was farm fresh and so yummy! We had to stop - there is just so much a person can eat - but it was all really good and what a colorful and exciting adventure!

I don't have much to say but we were very satisfied with a piece of sheep cheese we bought there - fair local product, excellent price (only 1,5€) and nice lady at the counter. Otherwise it was mainly empty ir closed, so I can't tell more

This was the third or fourth mercado we stopped in during our two week tour of Portugal and it was almost empty. We did find out from a tour guide that on Saturdays there is a farmer's market but the rest of the week.... just skip it.
