This is the most complete walled city I have yet to see in Europe. The walls are still wholly intact and surround the city.

These walls hold so much history it is well worth looking for them and thinking about how they must have been years ago. Any relic of this age and importance is worth a visit.

The walls are well preserved. There are inner walls from the Roman period and the outer walls are medieval.

By examining the walls and where they go, what is built and how it all fits together, you get a better look at life long ago. What we use now is so technological - where here the beauty outlasts the needs. Romantic? Yes!

Very well kept. A jewel to be preserved. I advise you to go around the wall walking or by car to get an idea of it all. Visiting only the interior we have no idea of architectural beauty.

There are many places we visited in Portugal that have remnants of medieval walls but Evora is the exception. It is obvious that the walls have been cherished and lovingly maintained through the years. As a tourist you can feel free to wander the narrow...More

The walls have 4 entrance and cover 1.2 kms. Some part of the wall was built during the Roman period. These walls reminded me of the ones in Avila in Spain.
